If you’ve been:
• seeing others work in the wild and thinking I can do that, but don’t know how.
• feeling the nudge to push into a new category of work
• needing help to get in front of potential clients
• feeling at a lost for what to say when reaching out
• wanting support on how to show up

Camp Momentum will help with all of these.
Over five weeks you’ll get clear on what your work is really for, find the people behind the brands you want to work with, and write the first email and every follow up after it, with a support and my eyes on your outreach every week.

By Nov 6, you won’t just know what makes you stand out and what to say. You’ll have said it.

I was at two events this week that had nothing to do with photography per se. both were about connecting with people.

Last night, at a cooking and connecting networking dinner, the woman running the table had us go around and introduce ourselves, which we did. Then she asked us to reposition the intro. Not “I’m a photographer” or “I do podcasting.”

She wanted something someone would actually remember two days later. Hello positioning!

She told me she’d remember that I like go to supper clubs which would trigger that I’m a “food photographer.” A moment that would to specificity.

Then today, at my co-working meetup, I found myself in the exact same conversation from the other side of the table. A hand-letter artist and muralist. A Shopify web designer looking for the right kind of product-based clients. A chef who builds entire creative dinner experiences.

All of us circling the same question: how do you want people to remember you, when what you do doesn’t fit in one box?

That’s the whole thing, isn’t it? You can be Renaissance-minded. You can have range. But people still need an entry point — something to hold onto before they can hold onto everything you are.

That’s positioning.

And it’s not a tagline exercise.

It’s the first of four things we’re spending 33 days on together in Camp Momentum — positioning, prospecting, pitching, and the mindset to keep going when you overthink everything, when work is slow, when it’s hard, when you question if you should stop.

Today’s the last day to get on the waitlist before cart opens tomorrow. Link in bio!

Struggle to talk naturally to a camera? Stop trying to wing it!

James Barnard @barnardco tried exactly that - and hated it.

His solution was simple: write the script first.

Keep it short. Read it one line at a time. Cut those takes together. Use supporting footage to cover the edits.

You don't need to become brilliant at speaking off the cuff to make great short-form content.

You might just need a better process.

Niching down doesn't mean throwing away everything else you know.

James Barnard @barnardco spent more than a decade building skills across graphic design before specialising in logos and visual identity.

Now that broader experience becomes an advantage.

A clear niche gives clients a reason to find you. A broad skill set gives you more ways to help them once they do.

Specialisation and versatility don't have to be opposites!

Sometimes niching down isn't limiting your opportunities. It's making it much easier for the right opportunities to find you.

Once James Barnard @barnardco decided he wanted to be known specifically for logo design, everything became clearer - his website, his positioning, his SEO and ultimately, where his leads came from.

The difficult part was figuring out what that niche should actually be.

The easy part comes when you know exactly what you want to be known for!

The best part of creative work isn't always the finished product, it's the people you make it with!

For @dawnheumann, collaboration and connection are at the heart of being a commercial photographer - whether that's creating alongside a team or seeing her work become part of her local community.

And that's an interesting lens through which to think about the future.

Yes, technology might change what we do, but perhaps the things that give our work meaning don't have to change with it.

AI has dramatically lowered the barrier to creating things that once required highly specialised skills.

That doesn't mean creating something great suddenly requires no skill.

But as @jamie.kingham points out, creatives can now experiment with characters, imagery and video while learning the tools on the fly.

And the technology is moving incredibly quickly.

The question for creatives isn't really whether AI is coming anymore.

It's what we choose to do with it.

The creative industry is changing quickly, and nobody really knows exactly where it ends up.

For @dawnheumann, that uncertainty is a reason to learn rather than hide from it.

Explore the tools. Build new skills. Understand what's changing. Find new ways to bring value.

You don't have to love everything about AI to recognise that adaptability has always been part of building a long creative career.

The goal isn't necessarily to predict the future perfectly… it's to give yourself more options within it.

Doing things with friends is truly better. Life and business. Wouldn’t you agree?

Running a creative business on your own can be lonely. I know.

You revamp your portfolio. Or send out your newsletter sharing your latest work. No one to celebrate with you. 🎉

You send the pitch into the void. No one to high five you for hitting send. 🙌🏼

You’re having a down day and can’t shake the negative voice in your head. Who’s there to lift you up? 🚀

Friends, not just any ole friends. The ones that get the entrepreneurial grind, the highs and lows., who celebrate your wins like they are their own, because they know exactly how much slog went into it.

Every one of these photos is a moment that was better because someone was standing next to me.

Rainy festival fields, trade show floors, coffee that turned into a three hour strategy session.

So here’s the thing. Camp Momentum is built around the small group, working through the daily prompts together. But you don’t have to wait to meet your people there.

Bring a friend to Camp Momentum with you for $100 more. Just add them at checkout.

Same daily drops, same weekly feedback, same group energy, and someone you already love to keep you both accountable when the motivation dips (because it will, and that’s normal).

Cart closes October 2nd 4th.
Tag the friend who’s in your corner 👇

You see a campaign in the wild and think, how did they land that? Or, I could shoot that/ design that.

And right behind it comes the real question: how? How do I get that opportunity?

So you open LinkedIn, scroll for ten minutes, and close it.

You sit down to write an email and have no idea what to say let alone the right person at the brand to send it to.

So you think send a dm on socials. You hit send, and then it’s quiet.

You follow up but it feels pushy. The third time feels uncomfortable and repetitive. And the fourth never gets written.

We’ve all been there. I have too.

I’ve help support more than 400 photographers how to find and pitch clients, and here’s what I know: the quiet inbox is almost never a talent problem.

It’s that nobody shows you the how, and doing it alone feels a bit like screaming into the void while your brain constantly overthinks every action.

So we reach for what feels safer. Another template. Another instagram post. A promise to reach out once the your work feels more ready.

But more information won’t fix it. You already know more than enough.

What changes it is getting clear on who your work is for, then doing the brave part alongside people who notice when you go quiet, with someone who can look at your actual email and say “yes, send it.”

That’s Camp Momentum.

By Nov 6, you’ll have:
+ a clear throughline for who you are and who your work is for

+ a list of real people at the brands you want, and a way to reach them

+ a pitch you’ve actually sent, and every follow up after it

+ me in your corner, and feedback on your outreach every week

Courage is easier in company. So invite a friend along too.

Comment “camp” and I’ll send you the details.
Cart closes Oct 2!

Hugs and high fives 🙌🏼
