The pros of putting yourself out there and asking for what you want — whether that’s a podcast guest invite, writing an article for sizzling hot new publication, speaking on industry-renowned panels, or just asking someone to go on a walk and get an iced vanilla latte with oat milk tg — FAR outweigh the cons. and that’s the goddamn truth.

Everything you want is on the other side of a well-intentioned ask.

That’s why I teach this now. I refuse to watch another person live life in the passenger seat, opportunities floating right by them instead of grabbing a lasso and wrangling them in 🐎

I recorded a podcast a few weeks ago with my good friend Shelly over @creativecamp.pro it came out yesterday and listening back I was pretty shocked at all I shared and said out loud – publicly.

I said that I am not that optimistic about the future of commercial photography. I shared about the dismantling my aesthetic IG grid and the journey of starting to talk to camera and share my insights and experience on here. I said “I thought I was blowing up my career” and you know what, I did actually think that when I did it. I shared about how much that decision has benefited me and how I have found new community on here by making it.

One thing I said still surprises even me. Instead of waking up in the middle of the night obsessed with the idea of making an image or nervous about a shoot the next day, now I wake up in the middle of the night with a new workflow, playbook or system in my mind that I just CANNOT wait to build with AI. WHAT Dawn, really? Its wild to admit it, but yes.

Don’t get me wrong, I would still rather be on set any day of the week. AI doesn’t make my pictures and I hope it never will I am here to tell you that it truly has helped my business grow and I love handing it tasks that I would prefer not to do, and truly am not all that great at.
