Same morning as Sunday’s Dreamliner, different flag on the tail.

@singaporeair‘s Boeing 777-300ER 9V-SWW on short final for RWY 07L at @frankfurtairport, with the low morning sun lighting up the whole side of the aircraft. Clear blue sky, the first autumn colours in the trees, and that gold-and-blue cheatline looking about as sharp as it gets.

I’ll admit I was also hoping to catch a Lufthansa A340-600 in this light. That one didn’t work out, but I’m not complaining. A good morning is a good morning, and it felt great to finally be back at this spot. With 07 operations, I really should come here a lot more often.

Swipe through for a few details, from the raked wingtip passing the orange weather mast to the tail with its golden bird.

Happy #triple7tuesday! ✈️

The plan was one last Lufthansa A340-600 landing in proper morning light. The plan did not survive contact with ATC.

@fraaviationspotting, @jarne_ps and I were waiting at the Northwest Runway on a cold autumn morning, cameras ready for the four-engined star of the show. Then the A346 went to the South Runway, and we came away empty-handed.

What was left was a morning of „standard“ arrivals. Funny how little that word means once the light gets this good. @united’s Boeing 787-9 N29961 on short final for RWY 07L, warm sun along the fuselage and the first autumn colours in the trees below.

Not the aircraft we came for, but definitely not a wasted morning. 🍂

A little “Moin” from Bremen, delivered to Frankfurt on four engines. 👑✈️

@lufthansa’s Boeing 747-8 D-ABYR, named “Bremen”, on short final for RWY 25L at @frankfurtairport on a cloudy autumn afternoon.

Soft grey-blue clouds, a faint touch of pink in the sky and the Europaturm standing right below the nose, as if the tower and the Queen had rehearsed this line-up. 🗼

Swipe through for the details: the “Bremen” name under the cockpit, that famous upper deck, the GEnx engines and those raked wingtips that look like they were drawn with a ruler. 📸

And no matter how many 747s I’ve photographed at FRA, I still catch myself counting the engines every single time. Yes, still four. 😄

Nose close-up or wingtip – which slide wins for you? 👀

A whole row of jet bridges — and this Queen doesn’t need a single one. 📦👑

@cathaypacific Cargo’s Boeing 747-467F(ER) B-LIC taxiing via TWY S11 at @frankfurtairport, just in from Astana (NQZ) and on her way to a parking position in Cargo City South.

Grey skies, flat light, dry grass and the Frankfurt skyline lined up in the background. Not exactly postcard weather — but cargo doesn’t wait for sunshine, and neither do I.

For once, no short final and no rotation. This one is all about the cargo action on the ground, the side of FRA you rarely see from the classic approach and departure spots. Even the freighter in the bottom corner has its cargo door wide open.

Swipe through for the details: the Brushwing on the tail, the “80 Years Together” decal for Cathay’s 80th anniversary, those big titles and the short upper deck that gives her away as a factory-built freighter.

So, how do you like this angle? More ground action like this, or back to the classic approach shots? 👀

Happy #freighterfriday! 📦

Four engines, one last Frankfurt takeoff, and a captain who’ll remember this one. 💙✈️

@lufthansa’s Airbus A340-642 D-AIHZ rolling along Taxiway Lima towards RWY 25C at @frankfurtairport, bound for Washington Dulles.

In the left seat: none other than @quax747. And this one was special for him. His very last takeoff in the A340-600 out of Frankfurt.

And the timing couldn’t have been tighter: just four more takeoffs followed before this four-engined giant was retired from the fleet. A goodbye to the type, right at the very end of its story.

A wet, grey autumn day, glistening aprons and the Lufthansa Group Hangar One in the background. Fitting weather for a farewell. 🌧️

Swipe through for some close-ups, from the „Airbus A340-600“ titles on the nose to the classic Kranich on the tail.

Thanks for flying her one more time, Captain. And thank you, A340-600, for all those long-haul miles! 🫡

Happy #a340_thursday!

Warning: whale-sized content ahead. Please swipe responsibly. 🐋

@emirates’ Airbus A380-861 A6-EEC rolling for takeoff on RWY 18 at @frankfurtairport, under clear blue skies on a summer afternoon.

Look closely while you swipe: gold titles shining in the afternoon sun, heat haze melting the background on slide two and, on slide five, a row of yellow snow ploughs behind the nose, patiently waiting for their season. ☀️❄️

The last slide says 77mm. With an A380, reach is never the problem. Fitting it all in is.

Four Engine Alliance GP7200s at takeoff power. I’ll never get tired of that sound. 😮‍💨

Tail, titles or nose — which slide is your favourite? 👀

Long-haul from the States, golden hour in Hesse. Not a bad way to say good morning. 🌅✈️

@united’s Boeing 777-300ER N2142U on short final for RWY 07L at @frankfurtairport, bathed in that warm, low morning light.

Clear blue skies, a few thin streaks of cirrus, the Taunus hills on the horizon and the first autumn colours in the trees below. Everything lined up nicely for this one.

Swipe through for the details: the raked wingtips, the massive six-wheel main gear, those huge GE90s and a little 2142 / ETOPS on the nose gear door. 👀

There’s just something about a Triple Seven in golden light. That long fuselage, the classic globe on the tail – it never gets old. 😍

Happy #triple7tuesday!

Storm’s coming? Not my problem. 🇨🇭⛈️

@helvetic_airways‘ Embraer E190LR HB-JVP climbing out of @frankfurtairport after takeoff from RWY 25C.

Low sun on the fuselage, that bright red tail with the Swiss cross, and a wall of dark storm clouds building right underneath. Minutes later, a heavy thunderstorm rolled over FRA.

Timing is everything – and this little Embraer clearly read the forecast. Wheels up, nose high, and gone before the first drop hit the runway. 😮‍💨

Swiss punctuality, even when it comes to escaping the weather. ⏱️
