Please share this everywhere! I don’t want this to be a copy and paste of my past issues and i am open to almost all art forms with the exception of long essays. Poetry, printmaking, photography, mixed media, digital, collage, paintings, drawings, comics, screenprints etc are welcomed and encouraged!

I need bands as well, if you are femme presenting and are in a band, i want to hear your experiences and i want you to be heard. Anyone can submit! <3

This looks so shitty because i made it on my phone while waiting to go into work lol

I was looking back at my photos that I shot on film in 2024, and I really wish that I had the time I had to shoot film so I wanted to share my advice for someone who was going to start shooting. I feel like I really learned from the repetitiveness of it and looking at the work of others to become inspired.

If I was to start shooting film right now, I would look at thrift stores, and ask parents/grandparents if they have a film camera (nine times out of 10 there is one sitting in someone’s closet), or look on @cutecameraco . When choosing film stocks, I would not choose portra 800 just because it’s expensive and looks pretty, I would start with something more affordable or something black-and-white because it is super easy to develop and the results are pretty satisfactory. On the topic of development I would try and self develop as much as possible whether that is finding a film lab or taking a darkroom class. I know that is not viable for many but it really gives you a deep dive into everything. Other development options i like are chicago pro film lab or darkroom film lab. The main thing i would say is trust the process and don’t be hard on yourself when starting out my first photos were shit. I by no means am an expert and i’ve only done this for a year and half but i feel like from on beginner to another a little direction is helpful. Also keep in mind this is an expensive hobby and i by no means am trying to push people to go out and spend money on this especially in this economy, one of the reasons i stopped doing it as much is because of the cost of film and development. Literally tho i was posting my “worst”work and everyone was still so supportive and helpful so this is my little piece of mind to give back lol share your photos and watch yourself grow!!!

7 years ago i was gifted a issue of Thrasher magazine. At the time i was 15 and extremely impressionable and didn’t have a sense of self so obviously i became the biggest poser and was obsessed with the edginess of skate culture. Mid90’s came out around the time too so that made it even worse. Instead of learning how to skate ( i did ask for a skateboard for my birthday) i cut up the magazine and glued them into a notebook just for myself. That got me started on wanting to create. If i was never gifted that magazine i truly believe that brain graffiti, midwest milk, or anything i’ve created would have never come into fruition. So this is dedicated to being cringe and being a poser. BE CRINGE AND LOOK BACK AT IT FONDLY! by @siameseclippings

Brain Graffiti #2

Matt and Jess return to the show to talk about the future of Brain Graffiti. We catch up about all of the incredible things that BG has accomplished in the year since our last conversation. Things are changing for the zine-makers in their personal lives (good things) and they reflect about the good, great, and the strange. From email miscommunications to getting Hate5Six to film one of their shows, its a great talk with two of my favorite people in Chicago music.

We also dive into the music that Matt and Jess have connected to throughout their lives.
