My very sincere thanks to all the bands who played a super fun show organized by Brain Graffiti Zine at Side Street Studio Arts. That was so very much fun, and we got a bunch of donations collected for The Welcome Table at the event!
*
Thank you to everybody who came out, to everybody who brought donations, and to all the friends and family who make these steps possible in the first place!
*

You all are amazing, and the energy I got to see at the event was very positive and very welcoming. It is incredibly special to get to witness and engage a scene like that as it thrives, especially these days.
*
And a very special shoutout goes to the friends who volunteered with me, Adam & Maddy. You two are the best, and it's truly so fun to get to do cool stuff like this with ya'll! Thank you for your support!!!
*
Much love & much power to you all in the meanwhile, and as always there's more on the way soon!

I haven't done much of a personal update anytime recently and just wanted to leave a few crumbs along the trail here. I'm usually behind the camera, and it's very funny to me to realize that I probably oughta post a few pictures of myself as well.

*
Life is crazy busy these days, but we're doing what we can to make the most of it all round.
*
*
I run The Welcome Table as an effort to cultivate and sustain transformative power in my community.
*
*
I run +Midwest Survival Guide+ to establish taste-making and trust-building practices with friends and allies.
*
*
And yet there is so much work ahead, so much to learn, so far to go in what must be done. It is with what humble gratitude I can muster that I thank the friends and family who help me all throughout. Your many kindnesses are ever on my mind.
*
*
I will be announcing many more fun events, ideas, and efforts later this spring & summer, and there will soon be more options for participating in those and supporting my endeavors should you be interested!
*
Photo credits vary throughout btw - pls feel free to tag yourself in the comments, appreciate you!
*
My love unto you all in the meanwhile, stay safe and be well!

Brain Graffiti #2

Matt and Jess return to the show to talk about the future of Brain Graffiti. We catch up about all of the incredible things that BG has accomplished in the year since our last conversation. Things are changing for the zine-makers in their personal lives (good things) and they reflect about the good, great, and the strange. From email miscommunications to getting Hate5Six to film one of their shows, its a great talk with two of my favorite people in Chicago music.

We also dive into the music that Matt and Jess have connected to throughout their lives.

Edit: fixed spelling in post 🫠

April Photo Dump 1: I took 780 pictures this April, so I'm sure like 160 are worth sharing

The first half of the month was loaded with good eats, family, friends, and major milestones. I got to spend some time out east talking with my parents, my grandparents, and brother and his girlfriend and eat some NY pizza (thank god) and cook with my dad for the first time in a hot while. I turned 29 and also got a promotion at work, and I got to eat a fancy steak dinner on my birthday and I also got to spend the time making a Passover Brisket that I was able to share with @adamwkleiman.

It was fun to see so many friends out for the @braingraffitichicago show at Bricktown (BG4E, also go check out the substack, Matt and Jess have been putting out some great articles and releases there the last month or so, they haven't missed yet!), and finally, I got the honor of being included in the @allmyhomiesshootfilm inaugural zine. Matt, Jess, Tom, and Nicole are working crazy hard to bring art and culture to the DIY, celluloid, and music masses and anyone reading this should be following and supporting both Brain Graffiti and AMH, because it is people like them with drive and vision who really breathe life into our local music community and our community at large 👏🧠🎨👫🎞🤘 My mom will be thrilled to have my photos in print the next time I see her 😊

Fun/big-ish announcement tomorrow and I also JUST finished a monstrous project at like 4am today that will most likely drop next month (and if not, in July) that I cannot wait to share, its been an immense labor of love 🙏❤️
