For two weeks I was haunted by the call of the Blue throated barbet, everywhere I went that's all I could hear but couldn't spot it and it was driving me insane. At the zoo I made it my goal to not leave without a sighting, I heard 3 of them calling loudly so decided to patiently wait by a Coral tree next to the Hog Deer enclosure, managed to get a decent shot of this ridiculously coloured birbo. Later I also spotted a drenched Lineated Barbet! It was a beautiful day (✿ ♡‿♡)

🦭 Ocean mammals appreciation post🦭, particularly Pinnipeds. Life goal = to see a True Seal altho this one isn't, spotted a juvenile New Zealand Fur seal in Dunedin on a beach at 5 am from when I was visiting family, 2016 - an Otariidae. To volunteer at an ocean mammal rescue center and nurse an abandoned harbor seal pupper back to health and watch it belly flop it's way into the ocean is a legit dream.

Out of the Pinnipeds, my faves are Phocidae, sure Otariidae and Odobenidaes (walruses) are cute too but I'm an earless seal person, no offense to the eared ones. Swipe for more of my fave ocean creatures. #worldoceansday 🌊🌀🌐
