#CullenCollege students and faculty alike made a stellar impact at the Italian Research Day at the World 2025 symposium.

Marzia Cescon (MAE) & Vittorio Netti (Space Architecture) were invited to address attendees with a key note speech showcasing groundbreaking research in cyber-physical systems and XR in space habitat design!

🧠 We're also incredibly proud of the UH graduate students and postdocs who showcased their work in the poster competition. Special shoutout to Olga Bannova (Director, Space Architecture Graduate Program), Marzia Cescon, and Prof. Netti for serving as poster judges.

Find Me On The Moon: NASA Lunar Navigation Challenge!

@sicsa.uh with its students (@harryespiloy , @quill.of.the.winter.star , Ian Grahm, @archbeyondearth , @edmy.siloe , and @justin.baileyyy ) and staff (@corra.texts , @spaceware3d , and @olga.bannova.3 ) obtained the 4th position as winners with SAND.

The project is the result of a collaboration between @sicsa.uh and Prefixa!

SAND proposes a lightweight navigational method using celestial bodies and terrain references to calculate latitude and longitude. Built from aluminum 7075 and PEEK, this additive-manufactured device resists harsh lunar environments while minimizing both cost and complexity. By measuring angles to the Sun, stars, and local landmarks, SAND can guide ā€œlost astronautsā€ without relying on electronic sensors or external power sources. taken in Sasakawa International Center for Space Architecture - SICSA by @sicsa.uh

The International Astronautical Congress @iac2024milan in Milan has come to a close, and it was a fantastic experience for us from SICSA @sicsa.uh @uhengineering. We presented several Technical Papers and Interactive Presentations at the Congress. It was a week filled with interesting sessions and valuable meetings among experts in the field. What an exciting period for the Space Exploration and Space Architecture.

In the last two weeks, @sicsa.uh hosted @aavs_moonshot Unit 2 at the @universityofhouston .
AA Moonshot VS offers three separate workshops (Unit 1, Unit 2, and Unit 3) that introduce students to designing in the context of Moon inhabitation, exposing students to a much greater level of agility and collaboration which already exists in the space industry. With different scopes, each workshop unit will introduce students to novel technologies and design methodologies such as design gamification, large-scale digital fabrication, and artificial intelligence tools to develop their proposals, fostering an environment to explore the tangential fields created at the junction of architecture, design, and theĀ spaceĀ industry. by @sicsa.uh
