After having a quick chat with @2hraquarist and inspecting the equipment, I finally figured out why the reds in the aquarium appeared so unhappy. It turns out that I accidentally disconnected my @chihirosaquaticstudio doser during maintenance, which resulted in the plants going without fertilizers for over a week. Fortunately, I reconnected the doser and increased the APT complete dosage by 2.25 ml per day, and that fixed the problem.

Oh, by the way, there is also a new low-tech nymphaea #wabikusa scape in the house now.😊

Remembering my first ever attempt at Iwagumi, or what I like to call ‘post-modern Iwagumi’, a term coined by my friend @urban_scaper.

While it may not have adhered to traditional standards, it was my pride and joy.

Plus, it taught me that you can maintain a thriving colony of caridinas in a high-tech CO2 injected tank.

Though it’s gone now, I will certainl recreate this one day.

Beneath glass it breathes,
Lotus blossoms in green hush,
Hope takes root in moss.

Heatwave gave me a bit of a scare this week. The tank crept up to 27°c but thankfully @inkbird_official controller caught it on time and alerted me (with a rather annoying but effective alarm and notification)

Luckily had the @hygger.official fan to hand, plugged it in, and it’s been solid ever since. Last photo shows it best: room is 29+°C but the tank’s holding steady at 25.5°C.

Four months in, and this tiny slice of ocean is absolutely thriving! 🪸

Massive thanks to @joshosreef, @rosehipscapes and @reef_ellis for generously sharing their established filter media, rocks and sand. I strongly believe it helped establish a strong microbiome early on and that’s what set the foundation for such a smooth, stable start with pretty much no issues whatsoever.

Sometimes the best therapy isn’t talking - it’s sitting still in the middle of all this.
The air thick with green, the quiet hum of the water slipping past fallen trees.
No agenda, no need to do anything.
Just breathing, letting the forest do what it does best - reminding you you’re a part of something older, slower, softer.
Maybe that’s enough for today. taken in Cheedale by @sid.scapes

Who remembers my first ever planted scape?

This was my first time trying to grow plants (I only kept plastic plants before this 😅). Had absolutely no idea about LED lights, CO2 injection, or even canister filters! The learning curve was steep, but it was completely worth it.

Swapping just an hour of Netflix a week is all it takes to keep these ultra-low-maintenance scapes going.

They might not have the same impact as some of my more complex scapes, but they let me stay connected to the hobby..even when life gets hectic. 😄
