Story time 😁
Doing a workshop and presenting to a group of more than 30 people was a daunting task for me but also a dream come true! After the workshop someone told me I was a natural and many others expressed their appreciation for the demonstration which makes me so happy because for me being a natural at this is far from the truth.

When I was slightly younger my last memories of doing presentations was while at school. During these presentations I would choke up and be unable to continue. I normally would present to a smaller group of my class at school because I was unable to present to a larger audience. I hated it and unfortunately it created a barrier for me. Presenting to a large audience was too scary a task to accomplish.

I am happy to say I faced this fear and feel very comfortable now especially when talking about my passion for aquascaping. I am so happy everyone enjoyed their time and found value from the workshops.

Everyone gets nervous but these nerves can be a good thing in small amounts! 😊

Long post: The universe threw me a bit of an L this week so I've had time to rescape this mini pond. It felt bittersweet as the old setup was really looking the best it ever had, but it was the right time for multiple reasons. I was getting leaking from capillary action, roots going crazy and the constant topping up was getting old.

I reused almost all of plant species (plus a few newbies) from the last setup so it shouldn't be too unfamiliar. I also replaced the black lava rock with Manzanita wood and it's now deep enough for a planted area below too!

It amazed me that despite breaking up the roots, all the plants shrugged it off as if nothing had happened. They'd clearly been growing healthily and rigourously and is part of the reason it looks good from day one!

I struggled to decide on the look I wanted but then got inspired from multiple angles. The need for a lower planted section from @rosehipscapes , the protruding wood from @shrimpery , the low tech glory that is @serpadesign and @n0r1z0 , the temptation to keep crystal shrimp from @londonaquascaper and @sid.scapes and then a splish splash of my own abracadabra. 🤓

(giveaway winner @hygrophila_pinnatifida ) 😱 The hidden truth behind polished Instagram pictures!

Many beginners often become discouraged by always perfect looking Instagram posts from the big names. Whether it’s fashion, fitness or #aquascaping niche. The reality is different and those who have been in the hobby for long enough will know it. Algae, diatoms, Cyano bacteria, stunted growth and unexpected plant melting is only a few of the common sources for frustration.

We should never forget, it’s a tiny cosmos with complex cycles happening in our glass boxes.

It’s ok if something doesn’t go according to initial plan. We learn and grow with the obstacles we overcome in our life, same is with our hobby.

@sid.scapes speaks out and documents his struggle with the latest project. The first and last image 📸 show a beautiful aquascape, but in between you see some of the issues he’s been facing.

Luckily @sid.scapes is not giving up and has a very supportive community that is encouraging him to keep going 💚

Don’t get discouraged if your aquascape doesn’t work perfectly from the start. Keeping planted aquariums is a life long process of learning and improving. Over time you will master the process and you will learn to see early signs and how to react.

Until then, simply keep going and try your best. Always be open for new techniques and never stop learning 😉

We are planning to create a resource for troubleshooting. You can help and contribute too:

🌟Experiment update🌟
I've now added Co2 to this setup to see the effects injected Co2 has on these plants. Hoping to rescue the Eriocaulon Quinquangulare plant which was added last. I researched it well and it did warn about its Co2 requirements. Quite clearly needs Co2 but the lack of heat, filtration and additional ferts has had a profound affect on its survival. But, i certainly can't say that this scape has suffered under these circumstances. Infact it's done extremely well considering.
Whats your opinion??

This lil vase has a new home! 😁
I gave it already to my best friend @vagelis_mar and this is how it looks at his apartment!

Its really nice to have a piece of nature in the house and this one is ideal for him because he is very busy everyday.
It doesn't need much maintenance, all he has to do is spraying! I will do the rest! 😂😂

Have a great week my friends! 🙏🙏

I wish you a happy 4th Advent ! 🕯

What is on the first place of the wish list for this year? For me it is a garden hose for the aquarium to change water 🤓
