The most awaited moment is here. This film is very close to my heart because it is my first feature film as a Production Sound Mixer. The journey and all the people were very helpful and amazing.
I am grateful to @potla16 sir for giving me the opportunity. I learned a lot on the set of freddy as a Sound Recordist.
And Thanx to @kartikaaryan and his whole team for cooperating with the sound team and understanding the importance of sync sound.

This is our journey so far and still thriving✨

Some films teach you to slow down and “Ye Mera Ghar” has been one such journey.

A small journey started by @p_b0t @toshalid @mayank.shivrai @thepitterpatterfilmco is growing into something meaningful and huge.

From Recording dialogues on location to work on Sound design, Final Mix and shaping the film sonically i am grateful to stayed with the film across its sound journey.

Along the way, I met people who spoke about cinema with care, who believed in process over pace.

Recently, I was asked to quote for complete audio post on a series before any real discussion. No brief, no references, no clarity. Just a number.

When I shared my minimum workable budget, the response was,

“ But Our Budget is less than 1 lac per Episode”
And Duration was 35 minute per episode for 6 episode.

And after all this, the expectation is often,
“Sound should feel like a Hollywood film.”

That moment exposed a larger problem.
Today, many budgets are being decided by people who are functionally illiterate about sound. Pseudo EPs and decision makers who have never sat through a sound process, yet confidently put numbers on it.

Sound post is not a plug in.
It is not cleaning audio.
It is not a single person sitting on a system.

Before a mix even begins, you have to build the world of the film.

You have to record ambiences.
You have to go out and capture spaces, streets, rooms, open areas, textures that define where the scene exists.

If a scene has a group of people, that sound does not magically exist.
You have to plan it, call people, record them.
Crowd reactions, murmurs, conversations, slogans, chants, protests, laughter.
A rally sounds different from a restaurant.
A restaurant sounds different from a living room.
These are not foley sounds.
These are designed, recorded, layered realities.

Then comes foley.
Cloth movement, footsteps, body shifts, micro human actions.
For a good festival film, you need to hear everything.
Fabric brushing against skin.
A cigarette being lit.
Breath, movement, presence.

After that comes editing and balancing.
Then mixing in a calibrated studio, often in 5.1, following strict OTT and festival loudness guidelines.
Studios in Mumbai cost money to run.
Rooms, calibration, monitoring systems, engineers. None of this is free.

Then come final outputs.
Stems.
Versions.
Then corrections.
Then QC notes.
Then fixes again.

World class sound is absolutely achievable.
But it does not come from ignorance, shortcuts, or imaginary budgets.

Sound is not expensive.
Ignorance of the process is.

A big thanks to @nfdcindia ‘s 18th Mumbai International Film Festival (@miff_india ) for the selection of our short film ‘Halves’ and giving us a chance to screen our film in such a wonderful way.
