Turner/Bartels K-8's National Walk & Bike to School Day celebration highlights student safety. We love the reflectors, flashing lights, and a very cute traffic cone! Thanks for watching out for your walkers and bikers, Turner-Bartels! Taking a break from walking and biking... to talk about walking and biking with @thewaroncars Doug Gordon, talking about his terrific new book "Life After Cars." Some stuff we learned: Did you know that an estimated 20-30% of morning car traffic is school drop off? Did you know that only 24% of kids get the recommended amount of daily exercise? What if we freed kids from cars and got them outside, connecting with each other and the world around them? by @sidewalk_stompers

Over 43% of Roosevelt Elementary PTA - Tampa students walked or biked to school to celebrate National Walk & Bike to School Day! As our first partner school, Roosevelt has made active routes to school a part of their school and PTA programming, incentivizing walking with classroom competitions for recess equipment. Along the way, they've seen more crosswalks, crossing guards, stop signs, and other road improvements installed to support their huge volume of feet on the ground. We ❤ those Rough Riders! @roosevelt_pta_tampa Walk, Bike & Roll to School Days @walkrolltoschool Hillsborough County Public Schools @hillsboroughsch by @sidewalk_stompers

Tampa’s local community market scene really takes on a whole new shape when you can bike your way through downtown. It’s great to be part of a city that really cares about biking and gives cyclists the opportunity to experience the city with just two wheels.
