The best of Tampa is best seen by bike! Tampa’s West Green Spine Cycle Track is an incredible way to explore some of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods by bike, making it easy to get outdoors and connect with the town!

It’s all about the kids! The best part about our mission and our partnered events is seeing the joy that a bike and a community can bring to the kids in our Bay area. It’s our role in fostering that connection that makes what we do so special!

Tampa’s local community market scene really takes on a whole new shape when you can bike your way through downtown. It’s great to be part of a city that really cares about biking and gives cyclists the opportunity to experience the city with just two wheels.

Happy National Walk & Bike to School Day from the Sulphur Springs Sidewalk Stompers! 👟💚

Just a few weeks ago, the @sidewalk_stompers program was just an idea we were tossing around with parents and partners.
Today, students, families, teachers, neighbors, City staff, elected officials, and community partners came together, (even in the not so great weather!) to walk and roll to Sulphur Springs K-8!

Now we have residents stepping up to lead routes, students walking together, and City and transportation partners at the table talking about the infrastructure needed to support them. 🥹

And as parents and students reminded us today, walking and biking to school isn’t a choice for everyone. For many families in Sulphur Springs, it’s simply part of everyday life. Some were even surprised to learn there was a whole day celebrating something they do every day.

Walking to school deserves to be safe. It also deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated. 💚

We can’t think of a better way to recognize @americawalks’ #WeekWithoutDriving @weekwithoutdriving than bringing these perspectives together and centering what is already an everyday reality for so many parents and students in Sulphur Springs.

And we’re just getting started! The Sidewalk Stompers will continue building routes and a network of neighbors to support students on their journeys to school, while helping identify where those journeys can become safer and better. 👟🌳

A HUGE thank you to everyone making this possible, including:

💚 Emily L. Hay Hinsdale, President of the Sidewalk Stompers

💚 Jason Jackman, Brandon Campbell, P.E., PTOE, RSP1, Frank J. Crum, MBA, and our partners at the @cityoftampa, as well as Councilwoman Naya Young

💚 Lisa Silva, PLA, AICP and the Transportation Planning Organization at @planhillsborough

💚 Sulphur Springs K-8, the School District, Sheriff’s Office, our families, volunteers, and the many partners and neighbors continuing to show up for Sulphur Springs.

One step at a time. 👟💚🌳

We’re still vibing from the incredible group rides we joined on World Car-Free Day! There’s nothing better than getting outside, riding together, and experiencing Tampa on two wheels.

And when the DJ is bringing the party along for the ride, playing live from an e-bike? Even better.

Two wheels. New friends. A whole lot of Tampa joy.

World Car Free Day brought neighbors together to explore Tampa, and onbikes was proud to be part of the celebration alongside Walk Bike Tampa and Sidewalk Stompers!

From our family-friendly Kidical Mass ride to a DJ bringing the beats by bike, the day showed just how much connection can happen when we get outside and ride together.

Thank you to Daria Mironova, WMNF, and Creative Loafing Tampa Bay for sharing the story, and to everyone who rode, volunteered, and helped make it happen.

Let’s keep the wheels and the conversations rolling! What’s your favorite place to bike in Tampa? 👇

Supporting multimodal transportation in Tampa is a must! Last weekend's World Car-Free Day was a great opportunity to try out the city's bike lanes. Thank you to @walkbiketampa @sidewalk_stompers and @onbikes for leading a fun, safe, family-friendly event across our city!

Designing and implementing real transit options supported by walkable and bikeable neighborhoods is not only a top priority of my campaign, it's vital for Tampa's future.

Your support moves us forward. Come to an event, sign a petition, make a donation - your voice matters!

Reflective vest on, flyers in hand, another morning doing community building in Sulphur Springs 💛👟

Every Wednesday morning we are working on getting our @sidewalk_stompers walking school bus program going with the Sulphur Springs K-8 school. Next school year, the middle and elementary schoolers will be split up, meaning siblings who walk together now may be taking separate routes along dangerous corridors.

The City of Tampa has committed almost $1.5 million toward sidewalk gaps and street safety in the area, and the School District is exploring busing options. These are big wins, but those improvements take time, and families are making these trips every day.
In the meantime, we’re working to help our kiddos walk together, be more visible, and have adults looking out for them to make sure they’re as safe as possible!

For this to work in Sulphur Springs, families and neighbors need to help shape it- That takes showing up consistently, building trust, and listening to what would make the program work for them. Every Wednesday, we’re trying out routes, talking with families, and connecting with neighbors through @sulphurspringsstewards who are helping get the word out and guide how we move forward.

We’re learning as we go and working through what it takes to make this part of the school morning.

Here’s a little of what that looks like, including some of the crossings (like Nebraska Ave!) that kids and families navigate on their way to school.

Sharing a glimpse during #WeekWithoutDriving as we get ready for National Walk & Roll to School Day next Wednesday, October 7!
