One of the sweetest memories I will cherish forever.

This season has taught us SO much about fully surrendering our own timelines and completely, wholly trusting the Creator’s beautiful, perfect plan.
There were oh, so many moments that God’s hand was and has been all over every little detail. So very many prayers have been answered in such incredible ways. Ways different than “my ways”. And I couldn’t be more thankful for that.

Oh, and we learned a lot about patience. Even throughout this video ;)

Today my darling Navy James turns two. Today my heart beams and aches, all at the same time. Today I look back at the past 2 years and thank Jesus for every precious moment. For creating her to be the absolute blessing she is in so many lives. For choosing me to be her mama.
As I’m sitting here writing these words with tears in my eyes, Navy heard me sniffling and brought me a tissue (or five), saying, “Mama, sad?” and tried to rub my back just like I do when she’s sad. Her empathy is one of many precious attributes that make her, “her.”
She is tender-hearted, goofy, strong-willed, curious, loving, and the reason I find myself laughing more & more each day. She has taught me more about love, trust, patience, joy, and the goodness of God than I ever could have imagined. Watching her become more and more of who the Lord created her to be is one of the greatest privileges of my life.
Two years ago, I held her in my arms at 8:04pm, September 13 and wondered who she would become. Somehow, in these two short years, she’s become so much more than I could have ever dreamed. She has filled our lives with a kind of love that is impossible to put into words.
And while I wish I could slow time down and keep her little forever, I know there is so much to look forward to ahead. So I’ll keep soaking up the empathetic back pats, the “Mama, hold you?,” the toddler belly laughs, the tiny fingers reaching for mine in the car, and all the things I know I’ll one day miss more than I can say.
Navy bean, you are deeply loved. You are prayed over. You are cherished beyond my words can say. I cannot wait to see you become a big sister. A role certainly made with you in mind.
Thank You, Jesus, for choosing me to be her mama. What a gift. What a blessing. What an honor.

I recorded this seemingly random day last summer and actually forgot about it until recently. I had decided to video my day so I could remember what life once looked like, knowing it wouldn’t always look the same. Fast forward a year: A lot is still the same, a lot is different. My day is still full of dogs from sun-up to sun-down. My calendar never sees a blank day. My little squishy baby is now an adorable toddler (and helper) and we even have another little one on the way. It’s so bittersweet seeing what life looked like even just one year ago and I can imagine I’ll feel this same way next year, looking back on “now”.
This has been such a sweet reminder to look at each day as the gift it truly is, enjoying the fun and the mundane all the same. I hope to do my best, though imperfectly, to live each new day to the fullest, pausing often to be grateful for the special blessings I’ve been given. Thank you, Jesus, for this precious life you’ve entrusted to me! by @sierraliberty
