Less than a minute left in a one point game and @psuabingtonmbb senior guard Alex Salata, III makes his way to the cup, gets the bucket and the foul. The Lions held off a late charge by the Mustangs of @morrisvillebasketball and won 64-58.

SIF Postgame Report

Guards Alex Salata and Shykell Brown put in work at tonight’s league contest between @psuabingtonmbb and @morrisvillebasketball. Occasionally they guarded each other and gave us some clutch moments, particularly in the second half. PSUA won 64-58.

Pottstown, PA's Salata (the clinching and-one bucket, while hitting 60% from the three) had 18 points and Rochester, NY's Brown (62.5% from beyond the arc, with eight rebounds) finished with 19. They are tonight’s co-SIF Players of the Game.

SIF Coaches Corner
.

The game between @psuabingtonmbb and @morrisvillebasketball was a game of runs. Hot shooting early by PSUA and then a furious comeback with defense late by MSC. In the end, we chalk up the move by Coach Van Zelst to find a few minutes of rest for his star Alex Salata that made the difference. Salata’s fresh legs and 3-point play with under a minute sealed the deal for the 74-58 @psuabingtonmbb victory. Coach Smith’s @morrisvillebasketball squad still had a chance til the final seconds believe it or not. Can’t overlook the work PSUA guard Kolby Miller did on defense as well (face guarding Jerry Sloan-style)

Shout-out to @mike_sugamosto for the invite to check out the @morrisvillebasketball squad. He went from the @syracusestallions front office to the @ncaadiii bench (as an assistant with Joseph Smith), and that’s a good thing. The game against @psuabingtonmbb was evenly matched, as he told us before tip-off, and the 64-58 final score was much closer than it sounds. We need to ask @coach_mags if having his @tbasketballleague execs participate in college nail-biters is their version of the Harvard Executive Leadership Development Program. 😆 Best of luck Mike.

This is an appreciation post for the @tbasketballleague. Like the days of the old Showtime Lakers, or maybe the 1970s ABA, all the compelling action is up close and personal: owners, the commissioners, and even visiting dignitaries (politicians, etc) cheer or nail-bite among the people. Each franchise we’ve covered possesses that same fan-centric thrust. During expansion, our hope is that the league remains convivial and unpretentious.

Coach Kelly, aka @kellygrinnell23,(Region 3 Coach of the Year) has her team on a 22-game win streak and the stingy squad (defensive minded) earned a bye in this year’s @ncaadiii National Tourney. The team is led by Regional POTY Macey DeOrDio, aka @maceyjean5. The ladies will play Thursday in Rockford, IL.
