Honored doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Reading “Dancing at Shutter Speed: A Reflection of Terry Baker’s @sif3.0 Photography” by his daughter, Chenoa Baker @chenoa.e.baker , filled me with so much emotion. Terry wasn’t just a phenomenal photographer, he was my mentor, my teacher, and the person who first saw something in me before I even saw it in myself.

When I graduated high school, Terry gifted me my very first camera, a moment that truly changed my life. That single act of generosity opened doors I never could’ve imagined: from NY Fashion Week to Essence Magazine, and beyond.

To be mentioned in this beautiful reflection means the world. But even more than that, I’m forever grateful to carry Terry’s lessons, wisdom, and heart with me every time I pick up my camera.

Thank you, Terry, for believing in me - your legacy continues through every frame I capture. 📸🙏🏾

Why do I love art and music so much? My dad.

Here’s a pic of my dad and I while I watch him in photoshop. He’s a photojournalist, early blogger, and music critic.
