Books are the niche. I am the plot.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
for as long as I can remember, the thought of ending my life came to me frequently and obsessively on an almost daily basis. i wake up wondering if i want to move or not

Constantly battling internal conflict where a part of me desperately wants the pain to stop, but the fundamental human desire/instinct for survival, to live, connection, not hurting my loved ones, and hoping things will get better outweighs the pain, acting as internal brakes against the impulse.

I’ve learned that pausing is not the same as ending. That the hardest night can lead to unexpected mornings.

The concept of #FruitFly genuinely intrigued me. A book within a book, writer’s block, stolen inspiration, a straight woman who associates with gay men (hence the term fruit fly), gay culture, and chemsex within the gay community? There was plenty of potential here, but unfortunately, the execution didn’t deliver.

The writing felt underwhelming, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that the author didn’t quite know what to do with these characters. Despite the heavy emphasis on their trauma, victimhood, and self-loathing, they came across as painfully stereotypical and one-dimensional. Bland, boring, egocentric, unlikable, helpless, and emotionally flat. It was trauma, trauma, trauma from beginning to end, without enough meaningful character development, depth, or direction. Suffering alone doesn't make a character complex, and repeatedly telling me how damaged someone is doesn’t automatically make me care.

Then comes my biggest reading pet peeve: REPETITION. If there is one thing I cannot stand— it’s repetition for the sake of repetition. And this book? Repetitive. The endless monologues, unnecessary conversations, and irrelevant details had me screaming, “EDIT! EDIT! EDIT!” Someone needed to be much more ruthless with that manuscript. The audiobook didn’t help matters either. Eventually, continuing felt less like a reading experience and more like a chore. A bore, even.

What makes it more frustrating is that there were several storylines with genuine potential to hold my attention: her seemingly inescapable abusive marriage, her complicated relationship with her mother, the stolen book inspiration, and Leo’s struggles with addiction and abuse. Yet, instead of properly exploring and unpacking these threads, the story seemed to rush through them, tying things up with an unnecessary time jump, a third-act turn, and a twist that wasn’t convincing enough to land.

Nothing was properly unpacked.
The emotional groundwork was missing, the developments felt abrupt, and the revelations lacked the weight needed to make sense of what came before.

The result was a narrative that felt choppy, rushed, disjointed, and ultimately unsatisfying. by @signediza

on today’s episode of #WaggyWednesday 🐾 ,
my girl went on a date 🍂

a long overdue one 📆

WillyWilly has always been crazy about her :D

so of course at every chance he could, he tries to steal kisses from her. lol

but as indifferent as my girl can be and never fails to show it, she had mad fun running around with him :))

what can I say? a girl’s gotta girl… and she’s good at it ;)

>>>September Reads Wrap Up In Memes

I read.
I judged.
I DNF’d.
I emotionally attached myself to fictional people.
I wrote reviews nobody asked for.
And, naturally, I added more books to my TBR.

a little recap of my reading last week. #bookstagram #AngerIsOnlyAShadow #VeraSteinIsFine #ShesADoll

Lil, a rebellious teenager on probation, risks her freedom to uncover what’s really happening with her increasingly distant older brother before it’s too late.

Forty-year-old Vera, newly jobless and homeless, moves into her grandmother’s quirky Hollywood-style retirement community, where she unexpectedly reunites with her former college fling—and discovers that life, love, and a little spice might still have a second act waiting for her.

After being murdered, eighteen-year-old Lucy wakes trapped inside the delicate porcelain body of an antique doll—with her memories intact and revenge on her mind. With help from Nicola, a fellow outsider, Lucy hunts down her killer, Kyle, in a town determined to protect its golden boy. by @signediza

getting my 8-year-old child into anime with ‘Dandadan’ 7 months ago was never the plan, but it's being fun rewatching it over and over again, with drawings of Momo and Okarun pasted at every nook and cranny (randomly even in drawers), while constantly asking me when the second season is coming :)

Don't get me started on creepy nuts obsession too with the ost. by @signediza

I love what Jesse Q. Sutanto does with the Asian grandma's and auntie’s narrative in her books and series. HILARIOUS AND ENTERTAINING, and the narrator Eunice Wong whom I'm familiar with in other narrations does an excellent voice narration with the characters and story. You've gotta love it when voice narrators reflect the ethnicity which brings authenticity, diversity and representation

Although I picked up book two before book one in this series, it doesn't feel like I’m missing much about Grandma Vera Wong as it progresses.
