Villa De Lesseps served as the setting for an urban sketching workshop led in collaboration with @michaelsafwat.art , where participants from different cities and backgrounds.
The session began with each participant expressing a personal narrative of their city through simple doodles, capturing the essence of their urban experience.
The workshop continued with an introduction to the basics of urban sketching, using familiar cityscapes and architectural elements as reference points. Under Michael’s guidance, participants learned to observe their surroundings with a new perspective and develop a personal visual storytelling approach.
In the second part, participants practiced on-location sketching in the nearby urban setting. Michael demonstrated techniques for working with light, shadow, and contrast to help refine their lines and bring clarity to the stories within their sketches.
نظمنا ورشة عمل للرسم العمراني في فيلا دي ليسيبس بالتعاون مع مايكل صفوت، جمعت مشاركين من مدن وخلفيات متنوعة.
بدأت الورشة بتعبير كل مشارك عن سرد شخصي لمدينته من خلال رسومات بسيطة وخربشات تعكس جوهر تجربتهم الحضرية.
ثم تم الانتقال إلى تقديم أساسيات الرسم العمراني، باستخدام مشاهد وعناصر معمارية مألوفة كنقاط مرجعية. وبإشراف مايكل، تعلّم المشاركون كيف يطوّرون نظرتهم للمحيط وكيف يعبرون عن قصصهم بشكل شخصي من خلال الرسم.
في الجزء الثاني، انتقل المشاركون للرسم في المساحات المفتوحة خلف فيلا دي ليسيبس، حيث قدّم مايكل تقنيات توظيف الضوء والظل والتباين بهدف تحسين خطوط الرسم وإبراز القصة البصرية في كل عمل. by @siiin_org

Heritage and Urban Scene:
The heritage fabric profoundly influences a city’s identity and narrative. It holds stories, history, culture, and people’s collective identity, manifested in buildings, traditions, patterns, and even dances.
Heritage is often viewed from one perspective, usually focused on preservation. However, with our City Toolkit, participants can explore all aspects of heritage through Siiin’s framework, allowing them to see it from multiple angles. Participants began by extracting various elements of the city that they could use to express their own thoughts, merging architecture, heritage, and urbanism into a one big scene. This process not only encourages a deeper understanding of the urban environment but also challenges participants to think about how heritage can evolve and be integrated into modern urban spaces.
In Siiin, we see heritage not just as a static record of the past, but as a “Magic wand” that has the power to shape and transform the city. It can make a lasting impact, but with the right vision and understanding, this heritage can be harnessed for renovation and growth. And Heritage becomes a tool for reimagining the future, where it is not only preserved but creatively integrated into contemporary urban life.

التراث والمشهد الحضري:
التراث هو جزء أساسي من هوية المدينة، يحكي قصص التاريخ والثقافة والهوية الجمعية للناس. غالبًا ما يتم التركيز على الحفاظ عليه فقط، لكن مع “مجموعة أدوات المدينة”، يمكننا استكشاف التراث من زوايا مختلفة.

Today, we continue our city branding recap by exploring the Waterfront-Inspired Scene.

The waterfronts of Ismailia hold a deep place in the hearts of its residents, forming an integral part of their identity. Drawing on this emotional connection, one participant envisioned a unique city branding concept inspired by the enchanting sunsets over Ismailia’s waterfronts. With a creative eye for the unseen, he proposed a multi-sensory experience that seamlessly blends the magic of the waterfront with the golden hues of the sunset—an experience he believes no visitor should miss.

After immersing themselves in the city and carefully studying maps to identify the most captivating spots, the participants applied their newly gained city branding strategies. They worked to reflect Ismailia’s values, culture, and traditions through thoughtful design elements such as iconic motifs and distinct color palettes. Their aim was to create a space that not only evokes a profound emotional connection for residents but also leaves an indelible impression on visitors—an effort that exemplifies successful city branding.
اليوم نستكمل ملخص ورشة City Branding for Architects، ونتحدث عن المشهد المستوحى من الواجهة البحرية.

تمثل الواجهات البحرية في الإسماعيلية جزءًا متأصل من هوية سكانها، فهي مرتبطه بتاريخ المدينة و انتصاراتها. وبالاستلهام من هذا الترابط، عمل أحد المشاركين علي فكرة لتسويق المدينة، مستوحاة من غروب الشمس على واجهاتها البحرية.
الغروب يؤثر على إيقاع المدينة اليومي
، ويصبح جانبًا محبوبًا في الثقافة المحلية ومصدرًا للإلهام.
لقد قدم يوسف تجربة حسية متكاملة تمزج بين جمال الواجهة البحرية و لحظات غروب المدينة، مؤمنًا بأنها تجربة فريدة لا يمكن أن يفوتها أي زائر للإسماعيلية.
بعد جولة ميدانية في المدينة ودراسة الخرائط لتحديد أفضل المواقع، بدأ المشاركون في تطبيق استراتيجيات العلامة التجارية للمدن التي تعلموها في الورشة، حيث قاموا بتصميم عناصر تعكس هوية الإسماعيلية وثقافتها وتراثها، مثل استخدام عناصر تصميمية مميزة استخرجوها من روح المدينة، وألوان تعكس التجربة. كان الهدف هو إنشاء مساحة تكوّن ارتباط عاطفي لدى السكان، وتترك بصمة لا تُنسى في أذهان الزوار—مما يجسد علامة تجارية ناجحة للمدينة. by @siiin_org
