For Arabic below: Villa De Lesseps served as the setting for an urban sketching workshop led in collaboration with @michaelsafwat.art , where participants from different cities and backgrounds. The session began with each participant expressing a personal narrative of their city through simple doodles, capturing the essence of their urban experience. The workshop continued with an introduction to the basics of urban sketching, using familiar cityscapes and architectural elements as reference points. Under Michael’s guidance, participants learned to observe their surroundings with a new perspective and develop a personal visual storytelling approach. In the second part, participants practiced on-location sketching in the nearby urban setting. Michael demonstrated techniques for working with light, shadow, and contrast to help refine their lines and bring clarity to the stories within their sketches.
