New Music! My latest album from The Satin Cowboy & The Seven Deadly Sins is a 3 song EP of @john_prine covers. These songs sit somewhere between humor and heartbreak—which is what I’ve always loved about John Prine.

My Satin Cowboy projects always feature my friends & family and this is no exception. Sharing the cover of the album with me is my nephew Michael Cardarelli (@mchlanthony). He lent his tasteful guitar skills to all three tracks and was an inspiring collaborator!

The lead track, “How Lucky,” features beautiful fiddle work by my neighbor Avery Stager aka @fiddlegirlie. Her Irish-influenced playing perfectly fits the vibe.

The cover photo was taken by my pal Shawn “Lefty” Kelley & then turned into a cool album design by good old @d_wrex.

Mastering was masterfully handled by my buddy @hansdekline, the only mastering engineer I’ve ever needed!

All songs are streaming everywhere now. Link in bio. Enjoy!

In honor of me hosting Everyday Akron this week, @thesummitfm is rebroadcasting my FROM AKRON & BEYOND interview with Bob Ethington and Nick Nicholis tonight at 10pm!

We chat about getting my start in Hollywood working with my uncles, Bob & Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo, my new album The Return of the Vampire Hustlers from Hell, and the construction of my own recording studio.

Listen on The Summit FM, 91.3, tonight Thursday, October 15, at 10 pm!

Fun fact: I worked at a radio station for two years in college and had a weekly two hour show. 🔊

My favorite outdoor place in Akron? Kendall Ledges in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. I don’t think I have to sell it to you, I’ll let the pics speak for themselves.

What’s your favorite place in the park?

Akron is blessed with a fantastic symphony orchestra, and one of my favorite things to do is attend its concerts in the stunning Brutalist architecture of E.J. Thomas Hall.

Last spring, I was honored to be asked to join the board of the @akronsymphony and it’s been fascinating to get a behind-the-scenes education. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to be embraced by the warm and friendly people who run the organization. You have no idea how lucky we are as a community to have such a great team at the helm of orchestra. Our conductors are worth their weight in gold and the players will leave you spellbound!

This Saturday is the first concert of the season, and the orchestra is offering a special discount for Everyday Akron followers & their friends!

Use code **HOWL20** at checkout at akronsymphony.org for 20% off any adult ticket! Tickets for children under 18 and students are always just $7.

So come to a concert and give your mind a treat. Close your eyes, enjoy a break from your phone, and simply soak in the music. Your brain will thank you! 🎶

Here are the program notes for Saturday’s concert, provided by YOUR Akron Symphony Orchestra:

The season kicks off with a whirlwind blast of emotional energy and dazzling imagery. At the starting line is arguably the most recognizable of all overtures… the William Tell by Rossini. A symphonic suite from Studio Ghibli’s iconic Howl’s Moving Castle follows, along with Dance of the Hours from Disney’s Fantasia (1940).

Headlining our season debut is an autobiographical tour-de-force as romantically beautiful as it is deliciously dark: Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique. Leonard Bernstein said it best: “You take a trip and you wind up screaming at your own funeral.”
