My favorite outdoor place in Akron? Kendall Ledges in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. I don’t think I have to sell it to you, I’ll let the pics speak for themselves.

My neighbor fell from the top of ice box cave broke both legs and various other parts. I loved the ledges!

Finished up the day at @rubbercitycomics and @sweetmarysbakery for the weeks comic pulls and some sweeet treats! 💥🍰Inevitably we find ourselves here almost every weekend, and it can’t really be called running errands if it ends with cheesecake, right?

both of these places are downtown staples to me, every single thing inside Sweet Mary’s bakery is always divine! Especially in the summer and fall, I feel like there’s always something going on downtown and often we don’t even realize it until we’re down there to pick up comics. Even at its busiest, we never struggle for parking. Also, the library is within walking distance of here too! ~ @alexisaustina

Teddy’s current favorite is the DC Absolute Universe, i’m not super into DC or Marvel, but I did read ultimate X-Men and was super into it!

Comics and our weekly pick up of macaroons, I got a fig one that tasted like a very fancy grown up fig Newton 🤣

I will say, even if you think you might not like comics there’s something out there for you. And waiting for something weekly is honestly kind of fun! I loved Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees by Patrick Horvath. It’s like true crime meets animal crossing.

Spent the rest of the evening finishing up this sketch that was just supposed to be a quick practice piece, but I ended up really liking where it was going. Oil on MDF board

Sharing some sketches from this summer, things that I see around the neighborhood.

i’ve watched this family walk pregnant up and down the street, pushing the stroller, and now this little guy riding his own bike.

this is an honest lemonade and Pokemon cards stand i saw this summer 🤣

just some funny scenes I see while driving through the neighborhood and think, i need to sketch that! Lol

These kids made me laugh out loud, I hadn’t thought about doing that in forever!

Probably my favorite brewery in Akron - I was so incredibly hyped when these guys reopened! A Spicer Street for Christmas in July is one of those things I had resigned myself to never having again, so to be proven wrong? Chef's kiss!
To have them reopen AND bring back trivia with @pubquizwithjared was truly more than I had hoped for- and then Jeff and I managed to win a trivia playoff for actual money and this classy plastic trophy🏆🎉

No time for a weekend getaway... how about just an hour on the water...15 minutes away from home.

This afternoon, my sister from Chicago and I spent an hour paddling at the North Reservoir. It's hard to believe a place like this is right here in Akron, so peaceful! We unplugged, relaxed, spotted a great blue heron, and were reminded how lucky we are to have places like this so close to home.

Our adventure almost didn't happen! I forgot the pump for our paddleboards, but Andy from Killing It Kayaks came to the rescue. He not only pumped up our boards, but even delivered them to us at the launch. Talk about incredible customer service and a reminder of how awesome our local businesses can be!

The State Mill Boat Launch and Fishing Dock is also home to the Purple Martin Capital of Ohio. With over 400 nests in our area. This year I adopted two nesting gourds, and six new purple martins hatched! It's amazing to think these little birds travel hundreds of miles each year and somehow find their way back.

Sometimes we spend so much time looking for something to do that we forget what's already waiting for us right here in our own backyard.

I was all hyped to spill the tea on how Thursdays are the first day of a new color tag being half price at The Village, but the Falls location had nothing for me tonight- which is itself also a foundational thrifting experience.
In lieu of a haul carousel, enjoy these things I found and did not need to own, including the fanciest back to school footwear, a single terrible minimalist shoe, a fabric content label that lies, a $6 Breville toaster oven, and some fishy friends that would have come home with me if only the shirt they were on was my size 🐟
