Recent work for Laubman & Pank was a great surprise with its funky edit turned out to be a lot of fun. The talent that’s out there today making ads is amazing and so young and understated compared to our days when yuppies turned up in Porsches and spent days making a 30sec tvc being fully catered for. Ah, the good old days.

Sweet little 30second edit has arrived… it looks real because it was a solid 6 hours in the saddle up and down mountains and stunning country roads. Look forward to sharing more as it unfolds in this cinematic adventure.

Ah, Roma… if you’ve never been, go… it’s like stepping into a 50’s black n white movie… Roman Holiday… can’t imagine its changed since I was there in the 90’s… the sexuality of the Romans is in your face… I couldn’t get off my Air Italia flight without being hit on by a girl offering to drive me around Nice… I arrive with no currency, no hotel booked and no plan. I felt alive for the first time… I got lost on my first day for 12 hours, ended up in the outer suburbs where girls shouted things from balconies or windows grabbing their crouch… I knew I was in a very, interesting, foreign place, a bit like First Dates. I’ve been writing a screen play called 4 Mary’s… Mary Fleming, my ancestor, Mary Seeton, Mary Beaton and Mary Livingston… they were the maids in waiting to Mary Queen of Scots, who’s mother Bloody Mary if she became ill the King of France would send an entire boat load of red wine to Scotland to cure her ailments… I’ve kind of been believing in this a lot… I’ve never had an illness, never had antibiotics or been in a hospital bed, I get a cold it lasts a few hours, I had COVID and had much worse bugs doing business inside China… red wine… like @wynnscoonawarra a deep dark Shiraz that’s vine roots have gone so far down pulling up incredible minerals to implant into something you drink that keeps the doctor away. 🍷🍷🍷Great dinner date with @mel_sheppard1 we ended the night over a few reds that never made the edit, think we overstayed our welcome. by @silverfox_ross

It’s a bit different to my very first dating show Perfect Match way back in 1991, fortunately the internet wasn’t up by then and the episode is hopefully lost in the Ten archives. But I’m hoping this one will be around for my kids kids to watch and see great gramps out there giving it a good go. Had a great dinner date with @mel_sheppard1 and I now have more followers than the Prime-minister.

Life’s a game, so go hit play!

Live on @7plus scroll to find @firstdatesau and hit the box that looks like this pic… @mel_sheppard1 was a sweet surprise, she did have the advantage of having been on a film set before but I had no idea of that or who she was… I got to read off a blank canvas and she was a beautiful vase of flowers and a stunning sunrise, I think its societies biggest issue is we can take a soft seat in the back and judge through a lens that only you see… mass media has made it impossible to not make mass penetration so extreme measures are used to get your eyeballs, eyeballs equals money, but as my mothers godfathers son, Rupert Murdoch has quoted, it’s a race to the bottom. Fortunately for me First Dates has built a beautiful safe place to be yourself and there is a bit of tweaking but all in all it’s played out 100% the way it was in my experience… Mel unfortunately might not have received such a duty of care in the past but we all need to run a bath and check the temp of the water before you put your kids in. #firstdates #firstdatesau by @silverfox_ross

He back on air for another year of @trilogyfunds ads which I’m amazed how many random people recognise me in… someone said there’s an extended edit which I’ve not seen because I don’t own a tv so here’s someone I’ve never met before who is even aware there’s different edits… well I’m happy for the rollovers that all go to lessening the pain of cycling up a Gold Coast mountain for a full day… both riders had faulty shoes that day, never had a faulty shoe ever but for both talent to blow out on the mountain pass was saying something about what we were pushing for…but we held it together. by @silverfox_ross

Just a week away now from D Day, Date night in the city lights… Tuesday 21st, Chanel 7 at 7.30, I hope they give us a good edit… so follow @firstdatesau I feel there will be some previews coming out this week… hope they don’t spoil the surprise. Fun to have a place to go and get dressed up.

Morning inspiration.

Sitting having toast and tea this morning I noticed flowers had opened in the garden with this unusually warm weather we’re having, the same flowers I saw on an insta post over breakfast but were white… so I thought I’d recreate it, it’s the first time the camera has come out in years… I picked up photography in London in the early 90’s and spent my weekends buying camera gear and processing equipment from 35mm to 5x4 with Rodenstock lenses that cost 5k a pop in pounds… I was obsessed… at nights I’d run around shooting paparazzi in b&w just for myself… never sold anything but so much fun. Who else can say they shot the Queen…

Shot this handheld at ISO 5000, the ultrasonic stabilizer allows you to get half a second exposure to work in low light conditions and get all those deep tones blending into that juicy soft light. No filters here, I come from a time before all that and we had to do it with brains not buttons.
