that trend i’m late to (as always) — 2016 versus 2026 — well, now i’ve got one.

2016: june-something, tenth maybe it was, i can’t remember. full right knee re-construction and cartilage regrowth. my knee, in a full traction brace for two months. me, crutching around the DNC with @nycstrawberry and all over Philly with @aspillane and @michaelskolnik , getting more media than ever (including @nytimes twice) to cover @rockthevote truth to power exhibition. 1.5 years of knee rehab.

2026: tuesday, february tenth. left knee surgery for torn in two places meniscus, cartilage trim, and debris clean out. doc found even more arthritis than we thought. bone on bone she told matt in the waiting room as i was waking up.

a lot can happen in ten years, especially these past ten years. for all of us, for me (much of it so good), for this country (much of it so bad). turns out, a lot of knee damage can happen too, but right now i am sitting here iced up, thinking about all the possibilities: for health, to run again (doc says it’s possible, just with pain but hey, we’re used to that), to play soccer again (doc says there’s a chance we can get me back to playing and has already invited me to her team in RI; side note: get yourself a knee doc like mine @universityorthopedicsRI), to be a fun mom, to be a more joyful human, to keep protesting on these streets (and pound the pavement for longer)…

couldn’t be a better time to have to have this done, i don’t think, when the winter olympics are on and i can tell my daughter this is my @lindseyvonn story. we are the same age (okay she’s october eighteen ‘84 and i’m november eighteen ‘83 but close enough?). i’m likely headed toward a partial knee replacement in the next ten years here (2026 versus 2036 trend post?). Lindsey is a badass incredible athlete who speeds down mountains and is stunning while doing it. okay, shes got me there but i hope she knows that, wild moves and all, she’s an inspiration to this forty two year old mom who feels ready to tackle the world in a big new way, once i can lose the crutches that is.

two saturdays ago, matt and i got quietly married in the backyard with just our parents there. my dad married us in his academic regalia and with buddhist blessings. matt’s dad read a poem by mary oliver. our moms held our recycled gold rings from catbird in brooklyn. and didion and joni were the flower girls—and everything else. i made my own bouquet and we drank champagne under the twinkle lights. it was perfect for us.

here’s to love and magic in all the little and big ways ahead. 🤍✨💫

Eight and a half years ago I drove west and found myself at one of the first-ever PR firms dedicated exclusively to social impact and to elevating positive changemakers. There, I also found a home, all thanks to @daniellefinck. Since then, I’ve had some of the most incredible experiences:

Elevating every single day the work and voices and leadership of our country’s most brilliant activists and advocates as they fight for policy change and narrative change and culture change around the issues I care most about: the climate crisis, sustainability, saving democracy, equal pay, equality for women and girls, safe working conditions for all, immigration reform, paid family leave, care for all, criminal justice reform, Latinx representation, Black liberation, destigmatizing mental health…the list goes on.

Traveling halfway across the world to bring journalists to leading eco-first destinations, and spending so much time again back in some of my favorite places: New York City, Aspen, even Washington, DC…and to Israel with my now-REALITY friend-family.

Storytelling and writing every single day about things that - especially these days - really feel like they matter.

Being able to have a safe, secure, and paid maternity leave, a gentle way of easing back into it all, and with truly transformative support for anyone acting and identifying as a parent.

Even getting to work with @mattbranham on a whole bunch of stories and projects, which brought us so much closer and I really do believe helped bring us to where we are in our relationship today (love you, Matthew).

And most of all, being able to come to work every day at a place that cares about us, with a leader like Danielle who does too, and who cares about the world and the people in it and the planet we inhabit.

Today, also thanks to Danielle, we’re announcing that Elle Communications has been acquired by Dolphin Entertainment. I couldn’t be more excited–for change, for growth, for new horizons…it really does now feel like the sky's the limit.

To my clients and partners and colleagues and friends in impact: here we go!
