"85% of us don’t know a neighbor well enough to grab coffee or ask for a favor."

Great catching up with Dan Bowens on Fox 5 this morning to talk about why connection starts right outside our front doors.

Preliminary data from NYU shows that about 85% of us don’t know a neighbor well enough to share a cup of coffee. COVID reminded us how much we actually need each other, but we shouldn't have to wait for an emergency just to know who to call.

It started with a simple photo I saw of people sharing a meal on a street, which I posted on Nextdoor. We ended up renting tables and chairs, setting them right down West 21st Street in Chelsea, and 500 people showed up.

We don't need to wait for a crisis to connect. We can just take the first step and set a table and invite others to pull up a chair.

Things are gearing up for #RaizadoFest. Before we get swept away with activity, I want to give big love to every single person who has worked so hard to make this a reality. It takes over a year to plan this festival. In fact, we are already starting to plan #RaizadoFest25.

In order to bring it to fruition it requires a committed team; a strong team captain (Big ups to Vanessa Moreno); funders who believe in the vision; community members who help guide us and shape the festival; partners who are willing to throw down; speakers, performers & hosts who make time to share their wisdom, knowledge and talent; F&B geniuses who curate the menus and pour their hearts into creating culinary and beverage masterpieces; a film experience curator to help elevate content and creators; hotel, restaurant, catering, event, grounds, valet, shuttle and venue teams that work so closely with us to make it special. There are designers, fabricators, production, sound digital, PR, marketing, registration, script, photographers, videographers, experience strategists and other professionals working around the clock to make everything impactful, not to mention a glam team that supports to make sure we feel like we can put our best selves forward.

We count on interpreters and translators to make the festival accessible and caregivers who are joining our team this year so that our babies can be part of the experience, too. We are blessed to have colleagues to assist us with everything from being on time to being fully prepped. Greeters, Ambassadors & Runners are on hand to support. Plus, the administration, fundraising, transportation, & travel and logistics teams that make sure we cross all of the t's. Plus, many vendors of all kinds.

En fin, I want to give huge love to all of these amazing humans who make Raizado possible and so magical. They are all really pushing right now to get us over the finish line.

Give them all of the flowers because what you will see unfold over the next week is because of them. They are all AMAZING and I am so very grateful to them. I can't tag everyone but I will try my darndest. 😊❤💕

I founded Elle when I was 25 + in my second PR job. I had a passion for impact + couldn’t find a job that married my passion with my skillset. I was lucky to have a lot of friends who needed my help + took on those projects on nights and weekends. Word started traveling, referrals came in, and I found myself with a full-time job, MBA program + 8 side projects.

On July 1, 2008, I took the leap with a lot of young confidence. If 25-year-old me could see what 41-year-old me gets to do every day, I’m not sure I would even believe it.

I met my husband through this work, traveled the world, was humbled, educated, expanded, corrected, + evolved. It’s rarely been easy + always worth it. I’m deeply grateful for this journey + everyone who has joined me to bring passion + wisdom to the belief that the world can + will be better.

In early 2023, we concluded that given the shifting media and PR landscape, it would benefit our clients, employees, + total body of work to access a wider breadth of resources. We set off in pursuit of identifying the perfect partner to merge with. After dozens of meetings with potential partners and being presented with many appealing offers, it was undeniable that @dolphinentertainmentco was the right partner. Across their parent company and the eight agencies they acquired before us, which include 42West, The Digital Department, Special Projects, Shore Fire Media, + The Door, they are making + shaping culture every day. The big audacious visions our clients have for the future of the world can be further realized through the integration of our team with these experts and their clients who are defining the current zeitgeist. I’m remaining in my leadership position + can’t wait to see what we can achieve alongside our 270 new colleagues.

We've built this casita with so much love and it's an honor to return to #SundanceFilmFestival w/ @thelatinxhouse for our 5 year anniversary.
