There are great local business owners, and then there is Joey at @shipwreckseafoodboutique , who is in a category far beyond great. Joey makes every individual who steps inside one of his shops feel special, included, and important, no matter what they look like or believe in. It is truly special that he nourishes not only our stomachs with the freshest seafood that he gets from the market himself every morning at 2am, but also our community’s hearts and minds.

I was honored to help Shipwreck’s newest location in Bed-Stuy, on the corner of Nostrand Ave and Lexington, with a new piece of signage that I designed and painted by hand on-site.

You can tell the success of a business by how happy its patrons are, and painting on the street got me talking to so many local neighbors and customers waiting for their food orders. Every single person I chatted with spoke so highly of the entire Shipwreck fam, a love and appreciation that goes beyond fresh fish. Thank you so much @1013_joey 🔥

It feels fitting to be sitting with my last artwork of the year on here!

Over the past year, I've tried to dedicate more time to pursuing artistic growth. I've gained a deeper understanding of my artistic voice, and I am grateful for the lessons learned and the progress made. The support and encouragement from others have played a crucial role in my development. TLDR: This is a long-winded way of saying, thank you! Yes, you! 👏 Thank you for supporting my journey alongside me thus far. I am excited to keep creating and sharing.

Final week to check out our duo show, Forces of Nature, at The Vault Gallery @culturehousebk! Thanks to everyone who has supported and come to visit over the past few weeks.

This special collaboration between @kpgnyc.street and myself has been such a joy to share with everyone. This body of work stemmed from an artist residency I completed where I manipulated Kevin’s photography to create a series of original cyanotype prints- combining botanical elements with Kevin’s dreamy cityscapes. I loved using only the sun and water to create these purely analog prints. The entire series of prints is linked in my shop in my bio.

Earlier this year, I completed an artist residency in Mexico. As part of my artistic practice, I’m always searching for materials that can be repurposed and transformed.

What immediately caught my attention was the flora: plants and flowers with forms that felt both beautiful and unfamiliar to me as a native New Yorker. I began collecting fallen botanicals and weaving them into negatives made from my partner Kevin Pineda Gould’s photographs.

Through the sun-powered cyanotype process, new compositions formed that feel like X-rays of Kevin’s city dreamscapes, revealing hidden connections between nature and the built environment.

This is a first look at Afuera, one of eight prints in a new limited-edition series, and a glimpse into the analog process behind making it.

Hearth is my first painting of the year, inspired by the colors of decaying leaves glowing at a winter sunset. Constructed from papier-mâché and paint over found objects, the chevron form suggests a fire lit in autumn, meant to carry warmth through the darkness ahead.
