Today is the fifth anniversary of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s « L’ Arc de Triomphe Wrapped ».
It was first proposed in 1961 but was realized posthumously in 2021 under the leadership of Vladimir Yavachev, Christo’s nephew and his team.
I am so grateful to have been their close friend and collaborator for over 30 years after moving to New York in 1983.
A big thank you to the amazing team and crew that brought this project to life, it was absolutely magical to witness and enjoy this incredible work of art.

On this 25th anniversary, I share these photographs as my tribute to the beauty and iconic presence of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City.

In memory of all those who were lost on September 11, 2001. May their memory live on.

As I am looking through my vintage prints, I rediscovered these photographs from 26 years ago..
In 2000 I set off for Death Valley in California with a nude model as I was fascinated by the way the female body echoed the sand dunes.
After printing these photographs in my darkroom, I came to realize that I could explore more in my studio in a precisely controlled environment.
This was the inspiration for my black and white “Nude” series.
Once I had finished printing these in my darkroom, I was given my first show with the “Nudes” at the “Ira Stehman Gallery” in Munich followed by the “Howard Greenberg Gallery” in New York, “The Photographers Gallery” in London, “Gallery Fifty One » in Antwerp and “Jackson Fine Art” in Atlanta.

10 years ago Christo’s magical « Floating Piers » with it’s shimmering gold fabric gave more than 1.2 million people the incredible experience of walking on water.
Such wonderful memories thanks to Christo and also to Vladimir and his amazing crew who realized this technically challenging work of art.

$Today is World Water Day. A quiet reminder that every drop matters. Without water, the earth withers, life recedes, and our future fractures. I have long been drawn to capturing the essence of water on film. In waterfalls, I found the perfect subject. To stand alone before one is to feel something almost sacred. In these images, I sought to distill that presence, water moving freely over stone, playful yet powerful, its speed and force dissolving into light, becoming translucent, almost immaterial. A beautiful celebration in Paris in honor of Christo and Jeanne-Claude as the Mayor of Paris renamed the square surrounding the statue of Henry IV on the Pont Neuf to « Place du Pont Neuf Christo et Jeanne-Claude »

It was very special for me to be here today as I directed Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s offices in Paris in 1985 for the Pont Neuf Wrapped one of the most exciting experience and my first involvement before collaborating with them for the next 37 years.

I took the photo of Christo at the bridge back in 1985 just before we started the installation.

In addition to this special ceremony, it was wonderful to be able to spend time with many dear friends in Paris. by @simonchaput

In my heart forever.

Happy birthday dear Jeanne-Claude and Christo.

They were both born on the same day June 13, 1935 and today would have been their 90th birthday.

I miss them both greatly and I am grateful for every moment I spent working and traveling around the world with them for over 30 years.

This year is also the 30th anniversary of The Wrapped Reichstag in Berlin and the 40th anniversary of The Wrapped Pont-Neuf in Paris.
