Ordinary ultra-late

“Docile Sodom (Where Does It End?)” is a short film digging into hostile, nullified spaces essential to upholding the city’s sanitised, fast-paced facade. Everything happens in a frozen state.
Through the gaze of weeds, the film explores the moment these areas and their concealed inhabitants detach from the urban fabric - a breathless state as familiar ground slips away.

Mega thanks to @aandreavenanzoni for working on the sound bit, to @alugi.n for helping with the screen building, and @calcomane for the pics

We’re delighted to share a new conversation with Hannah Hornby (@hannahhornbyart) and Simone Marconi (@simone.marconi_), now live on YAC.

In this rich and reflective exchange, Hornby and Marconi discuss writing as a material practice, speculative fiction, and their shared fascination with time, memory, debris, and the unstable ground between the natural and the constructed. Moving between sculpture, text, sound, and image, the conversation traces cycles of growth and decay, uncertainty within history, and how fiction can be used as a tool to question reality, responsibility, and collective meaning.

Bit of a late one...

Thanks @promenadeprojects01 team for laying the ground for this germinal work to unfold. Tidal Leads is the culmination of several field trips - between March and June - during which I recorded and analysed the site to develop a slow, silent, muffled short story, its audio piece, a publication, and an intervention along the collective listening walk organised for the weekend.

Dm if you wanna know more or you’d like a free copy of the publication!

‘Tidal Leads is a collective act of subtle, silent resistance against erosion – erosion that makes us doubt our need for community, forcing us to adhere to fast-paced societal patterns. The audio collaboration ponders the inherent ephemerality of being and existing in a somewhat precarious realm. By emphasising the inherent fragility of being and existing in a constantly mutating non-place, Tidal Leads spotlights a condition we often prefer not to acknowledge; it underscores how a sense of safety and confidence within oneself can sometimes harm one’s identity.
The audience was invited to join a group deep listening, a 16-minute walk that employed Weston-Super-Mare’s promenade as a backdrop.
Taking the audience on an intimate pilgrimage into subaqueous lands, Tidal Leads is a portal into meters below the reflecting water, where an almost parallel universe that doesn’t quite feel right hides.’

Special thanks to @aandreavenanzoni for contributing giganticly to the soundscape, and to @samfrancisco for helping me make this possible. And again, big thanks to every single one who joined the ‘pilgrimage’ (even under the weather).

‘Sea Like a Mirror’ was a partnership project led by @cementfields , with @art__gene , @nnfest , @nelcouncil @createnelincs @eastmarshunited , and @superculturewsm

Simone Marconi: Tidal Leads

Tidal Leads is a collective act of subtle, silent resistance against erosion – erosion that makes us doubt our need for community, forcing us to adhere to fast-paced societal patterns.

The audience is invited to join a group deep listening walk exploring feelings we often prefer not to acknowledge through interventions and encounters that employ Weston's promenade as a backdrop. The audio collaboration with Andrea Venanzoni ponders the inherent ephemerality of being and existing in a somewhat precarious realm.

Taking you on an intimate pilgrimage into subaqueous lands, Tidal Leads is a portal into meters below the reflecting water, where an almost parallel universe that doesn't quite feel right hides.

🌟 PSSA Member Profile: Simone Marconi

🧨 We are delighted to present the work of new PSSA Member Simone Marconi.

🎯 Simone Marconi (b.1996) is an Italian artist currently working in Bristol (UK). His work takes the form of time-based installations, sculptures, writing, and interventions. He blends pre-industrial, poetic, and instinctive approaches to assemble new life into natural and manmade discarded materials.

⚡️Marconi explores neglected voices, hidden traces, and narratives at the edge of the real as a way to develop and tell stories. The work walks the worn tightrope between tangible and fictional, inviting the audience to delve into the emotional complexities of our times. He ponders humanity's state of flux by creating allegories to reduce the gap between us and the space we occupy. By presenting reality as a fluid, ephemeral concept, Marconi's work serves as a satirical commentary on the Anthropocene.

💥 Marconi is currently experimenting with writing as a fluid, sculptural phenomenon to reflect on dialectical confusion and its active nature within history. He is currently building Archetypes of Salvation, such as huts, rafts, shelters, or parachutes, as hostile, fragile, and precarious environments for the writing to be absorbed and experienced in the first-person. He has exhibited widely, in part of a collective exhibition Futura Forma in Milan, in group exhibition 'just the powder of the flute' at Safehouse 2, London and has exhibited and co-curated Damniato Memoriae @spikeislandstudios

📡 UNDER THE SONAR: @simone.marconi_

Simone Marconi is an Italian artist currently living and working in Bristol. Combining industrial and instinctive approaches, he produces work that walks on the worn tightrope between real and surreal. Marconi aims to ferry the audience into a fluid, parallel dimension, introducing them to introspection.
By challenging the notion of reality as static, his production operates as a parody of reality, a satirical caricature of the Anthropocene...
