Getting married in Hackney Town Hall then get a plate to remember it - or even better get someone else to buy you one. You can even hang them up, add your names and dates and hearts and stuff and write a soppy message on the back ( or the front) . I’m only doing one fair this year and it’s the winter market at @museumofthehome on Saturday 28th November - thought I’d make a plate to sort of promote it. #homesweethome #museumofthehome #winterfair #shoreditch . If you haven’t been it’s quite a cool museum with rooms through the ages in the old almshouses. They are all decorated for Christmas (well I hope so - they stopped doing it for a couple of years which was a bit sad but common sense prevailed !) by @simonturnersart

#doveofpeace #dovesofinstagram . I found a beautiful grave in Southwold and couldn’t resist taking a mould. Here’s the result. So here are a few recent commissions and gifts that I’ve done for weddings and other celebrations.

They are all one- offs. I make the plates and fire them once - they all have a little hanging thingy on the back so you can hang them up if you don’t want to actually use them.

I can illustrate a venue or a building and add dates, places, times - they can be dead serious, a bit funny or you can suggest the text.

Also - I have a selection of impressions - hands clasped, doves and cherubs and text can be added to those too.

There are a few examples on the website ( see link) or you can pop to Islington’s beautiful Camden Passage to the gallery for a look. @thebakeryartgallery and just over the street is the fabulous @angelicabridal

I like a bit of a love story as I’m a right softy. Pam and Jonathan met @themildmayclub a few years back when they were both in the Panto and they got married last week! So Pam asked me to make a pressie for Jonathan. Bit of a rush job as I had just a few days to paint and fire it ! So nice to be asked to make such nice things . And big congrats to the happy couple ! Found in that huge ceramics room in the V and A and I love these! six English tin-glazed earthenware (‘delftware’) plates known as ‘Merry Man’ after the first line of a six line poem and dated 1727 which is pretty old. Each line appears on a separate, numbered plate which reads : ‘What is a merry man / Let him do what he can / To entertain his guests / With wine and merry jests / But if his wife do frown / All merriment goes down. @vamuseum #tinglaze #earthenware #wineandmerry #1720s #platepoetry by @simonturnersart
