POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
A professor, a doctor and a former detective walk into Parliament… sounds like the start of a joke, doesn’t it? 😂

But yesterday, it was something incredibly meaningful.

I was immensely proud and humbled to stand in Queensland Parliament as an Ambassador for the National Survivors Foundation, supporting this year’s National Survivors’ Day campaign, “Honouring Every Survivor.”

Sharing my story was perhaps more vulnerable than I anticipated, and there were certainly a few more tears than I had planned. But sometimes the most powerful words are the hardest to speak.

I hope my message resonated with those in the room. From the conversations afterwards, I feel it did.

For me, this was about far more than telling my story. It was about honouring every Survivor, particularly those who have never found their voice, and reminding ourselves that courage, healing and hope look different for everyone.

⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Day 1 of Ambrose golf at the Australasian and New Zealand Police Games on the Gold Coast!

The putting might have left a little to be desired, but the laughs, camaraderie and good times more than made up for it! 😂

Great to be among fellow police colleagues, past and present, enjoying a bit of friendly competition.

Now to find that putting stroke for Day 2! ⛳️💪

Happy birthday, Gerard. ❤️

The pain of losing you is still as hard as ever, and days like today remind me just how much I miss having you here.

But today I’l be choosing to celebrate you... your life, your laugh, the person you were, and all the memories you gave us.

I’ll spend today remembering the moments you created and, most importantly, the ones we created together as brothers.

Those memories are mine forever. So are you.

Happy birthday, brother. Miss you every day. ❤️ by @simpfofficial

*** These are my own personal thoughts ***

Talent should never outrank character.

Character doesn’t finish when you cross the white line.

Values don’t disappear when the siren sounds.

Because ultimately, 'The Man I Am' isn’t defined by the awards I receive.

He’s defined by the example I leave behind.

Reflect. Choose. Be Better.

A snappy work trip north, and one that came with mixed emotions. But there’s always something positive to take away, I just have to choose to find it.

Thanks for having me, QLD. 🌇 Until next time. by @simpfofficial

Would the boy you once were look up to the man you are today?

It’s a confronting question. But sometimes the questions that make us uncomfortable are the ones worth asking.

Because the way we show up as men matters, to our mates, our partners, our kids and the communities we create around us.

Change starts with the tough conversations. And everything that follows.

A great morning for a little self care, chasing a little white ball around the golf course. ⛳️

Something I’m still learning is that taking time for yourself shouldn’t come with guilt.

But sometimes it does.

Life gets busy. Work gets intense. There’s family, commitments, life admin and that constant feeling that there’s probably something more productive you should be doing.

Sometimes though, the most productive thing you can do is stop.

Reset. Breathe. Laugh. Walk a few kilometres. Hit a few good shots and plenty of ordinary ones! Give your mind somewhere else to be for a while.

Self care isn’t selfish. Sometimes it’s simply recognising when the tank is getting low and giving yourself permission to recharge.

I’m getting better at recognising that, although the guilt still creeps in occasionally.

So perhaps a reminder for anyone else who needs it today:

Be kind to yourself. Recognise when you need to reset. Make some time for you without feeling guilty about it.

Everything else will still be there when you get back. ⛳️ by @simpfofficial

A proud Dad moment that became a pretty confronting reminder that time waits for no one.

As my son begins his journey with Army Cadets and, hopefully one day, a career in the Australian Defence Force, we pulled out some of my old things from when I was very briefly, an Army Reservist.

Then it hit me. That was 25 years ago!

Old photos. Field notes. Training material. Memories I hadn’t thought about for years.

But the best part wasn’t reminiscing about my own time. It was watching him.

He was genuinely invested in every bit of it. Asking about the photos, reading through my notes, wanting to hear the stories behind them and asking question after question because he wanted to learn anything that might help him on his own journey.

There was something pretty special about watching my son hold pieces of a chapter of my life from 25 years ago, knowing he is now standing at the beginning of his own.

And there was something confronting about it too.

Time does not pause for anyone.

One minute you’re the young bloke in the photograph, with no real idea where life is going to take you. Then somehow 25 years disappear, and you’re sitting beside your son as he prepares to start writing his own story.

I’m incredibly proud of him.

And I suspect this will be one of those seemingly small moments that, years from now, I’ll realise wasn’t small at all.

Hopefully one day we’ll pull out his old photos, notes and memories together and I’ll get to hear the stories he collected along the way.

For now, though, I’m just a very proud Dad watching him take his first steps on a journey that is entirely his own. by @simpfofficial
