woke up yearning for a place called Bali 🌺 by @simply.somatics

Healing is happening so quickly these days. Things that would previously plague me for months or years are now clarifying and shifting within one hour. My soul is exclaiming, no more! My soul is shouting, I will not live this life in a bondage not of my own choosing! My soul is saying yes! Yes to — committing to one year of intentional celibacy (big stuff), genuinely reciprocal friendships, humans with large emotional and relational capacities, asking the elements to hold me, ruffling feathers, praying, nettle & oat straw, presence, solitude, nesting, saying “thank you” and meaning it, meal prepping, asking for what I need, embodying wholeness. My soul is saying no to — pretending, not telling the truth, patriarchal paradigms, over-extending myself, self-silencing, outsourcing what must be nurtured within. I’m proud of who I am and I’m proud of where I’m going 🕯️everything is a blessing if you say it is. by @simply.somatics

Oh, and forgiveness is the healer of all healers. Forgive yourself, forgive them, forgive yourself for not wanting to forgive them. Just try to forgive. It will set your heart free 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅 by @simply.somatics

Two weeks in the Peruvian Amazon with the plants, the Shipibo, and my own ancestors.

Want to hear something amazing? My grandmother on my dad’s side passed away on the day of my very first ceremony, the Pisces new moon. My great grandmother on my mom’s side then passed away on the day of my last ceremony, the Pisces full moon eclipse. I loved them both, but I wasn’t particularly close with either of them. It’s amazing because it felt important. It was as if all of the cosmos were singing to me, “It’s time for a changing of the guard, my dear. A new way is emerging through you. Keep going!”

Full reflections coming in next post, but here’s a visual diary into my home and rhythms while I was at Nihue Rao. The minutes dragged along but the weeks went by in an instant. I’m beyond grateful to be home in my cozy abode, just in time for the changing of the seasons. by @simply.somatics

This sweet little girl of mine. She learned that sexual abuse, enmeshment, addiction, death, abandonment, and extreme powerlessness exist in this world, all before the ripe age of 8.

She rlly loved her kitties, spent Wednesdays knitting with the librarians, & stayed inside at recess just to be close to her teachers.

She learned to connect with people fast so loneliness couldn’t catch up to her, she learned fear wasn’t a privilege she was granted, and she learned hypervigilance is the queen of all survival skills.

That little girl of mine grew into a woman who uses her ability to connect, her bravery, her emotional x-ray vision to guide humans through their own underworlds.

Healing is one of the loneliest, darkest, most excruciating roads a human can walk. When you meet chronic powerlessness so young, you learn fast and hard that the world holds real darkness. And you learn that a lot of people have never met that darkness. Or that they have, but they can’t look at it… because looking at it would mean going back down into their own personal hell.

Did I mention it’s a lonely road?

Wisdom can’t be bought or studied. It has to be lived, felt, and worked into the bones. “Everything happens for a reason” hits different when you’re desperate for it to be true. I’ve asked “why me” more times than I can count, more times than I’m proud of. And nearly every time, I arrive at a similar place. I was handed this pain so I could learn how to turn it into medicine, and thank god I’ve had the privilege to do so. by @simply.somatics

Life on mount pleasant ave is sweeter than molasses and I’m insufferable about it. Who knew manifesting is just deciding you’re worthy of the thing and then the thing shows up??? Absolutely unhinged system, big fan.

Months ago I was subletting through the worst grief of my life going “Universe, please please please show me a home with original hardwood, windowsills fat enough for lemmy, dirt to dig my hands in, and some old trees to carry me through the seasons” and the universe said done, also here’s @brookewyand and @strega_nic to share it with.

The owner told us dreams come true in this house and she was not kidding because not one day has passed without all three of us crying, laughing, and feeding each other like it’s our religion (because it is)

I’m never moving back to the city.

We’re also now accepting visitors for tea, long convos, and candlelit dinners effective immediately. Your price of admission is a couple scratches for Lemmy, I don’t make the rules 🐈‍⬛ by @simply.somatics

The good news is: you can come home to your body anytime you want. A tree is not required but it helps I swear 🧚🏼🧚🏼🧚🏼🧚🏼🧚🏼

The good news also is: I guide folks in doing this for a living. Send a DM if you’re feeling bold n brave 🍃 by @simply.somatics

Stream of consciousness around vulnerability (grammatical and spelling errors be damned!). What a courageous thing to say, “Here, take my heart, hurt, pain, grief. Anything less than this would be a lie.” when the risk is so incredibly large. The gift, however, is much larger. by @simply.somatics

The modality or rigor or time or desire doesn’t make a dent in your healing if unconditional love isn’t in the driver’s seat 🤝 by @simply.somatics

How dare we forget that we belong to it all????? A meditation retreat weekend filled with remembering how precious life feels when this belief takes root.

@visitbloomfarm @yoga.bryan.hogan @lexlexthr @yoga_alchemy_dreamwork @chrisrauhauser @veterans.healing.forests @petechristoffel thank you doesn’t begin to cover it

my poetic purpose + meditations on 2025 by @simply.somatics

At the age of 20, the most exotic place I’d been to from my small-town in Indiana was Florida… which is essentially just Indiana, but stickier. I chose to go to school at Kent State mainly because I wanted to study in Florence. I worked in a factory making air conditioners from 4am to 4pm, then babysat until 7 or 8pm most days to save enough money for living in Florence. Certified hu$lter. My first real bon voyage. Maybe the first thing I ever really knew I wanted to work for in life.

This place was (and is) an open doorway, a catalyst, a rocket ship that sent me high, sent me low, sent me soaring, reaching, where? I didn’t know.

It’s been 9 years and many a feathers in my cap since that first transatlantic flight. I’m same same, but different.

Same open, curious, impressionable heart. I have so much to learn from the Italian culture. Community, simplicity, quality, reverence, beauty, tradition — all things they hold dear.

Different in the way I hold myself. I could confidently navigate most cities on Earth at this point. I don’t need anything from Italy in the way I did then (self-confidence, “I really got out! I escaped the constraints of small-town thinking!”, an exit door to abandon a lot of pain at home). Now there’s no needing, but rather a reciprocity. I can offer my presence, appreciation, respect, and care. I will receive the same in return.

Our days were slow and free-flowing, much like the Arno river, and Danny and I finished each day with practicing piano and reading Dune out loud, laughing till we were in stitches in between. Grazie a mille, Firenze🌲 you are my teacher and my friend. by @simply.somatics
