AAAAAAAAHHHH! We found two hammerhead dotos last weekend land omg so cute!! But by we I mean @simply_mi and the kiddo because in the second picture you can see just how small it is. I have no idea how their eagle eyes spotted them. But check out how interesting the rhinophores (the antenna things) and the projections on the back are?? Thanks @simply_mi for making us all crazy about nudibranchs 😆 by @simply_mi

First make of 2025! Or rather, first finish. Completed this on January 1st, only because I just didn’t feel like doing it December 31st 🤷🏼‍♂️
It was a helping you to help me project for @dorisaurus , I got to use up stash (no, you cannot tell) and she got a quilt! Win-win.
I did have to buy the black, from @goldenstatequilting , and of course I overbought just in case so it… might be negative progress stash wise…
In any case, it’s cat approved.

Currently evaluating my WIPs for whatever’s closest to completion and prioritizing that way but I think another cull is in order 😮‍💨

I made a personal best nine of the cats from 2024.
I feel like they get weirder every year. by @simply_mi

Some findings from the king tide weekend! Went to #santacruz on Friday and #halfmoonbay on Sunday. Doing some research on what tide pools to check out, and how far I want to drive 😮‍💨

But in other news this might be my new favorite song.

Happy birthday to Jane Austen!
Super excited to be going to the Jane Austen Evening next month, and the excuse to wear one of my outfits buuuuut, kind of thinking about making something new 🤦‍♂️

I think all photos by @dorisaurusmakes !

I haven’t gone through any of the photos from this really great pirate ship shoot @aimeekittycosplay organized back in June, but I’m trying to catch up!
I had a looooot of ideas for this and for many reasons did none of them. It ended up being a “what’s in my stash that could conceivably work” project, so the only thing I bought was the trim for the jacket and possibly some black for the lining, I don’t remember now 😬

A few more nudibranchs from the king tide weekend. Look at how teeny they can be!
I’m trying to find a list of all the local ones so I can mark them off as I find them, for some reason in my head there were only like. Three. Local varieties.
Also I need to get an underwater case because the glare was soooo harsh 😩

King tide at #halfmoonbay ! I’ve never seen so many people at the beach, even in summer.
@dorisaurus and I spotted several new to me nudibranch, including this… warty shag rug?? That’s the first slide. It’s so cute omg.
And I saw a Hopkins Rose! The pink one that looks like a wet koosh ball. I really want to see one all puffy underwater though.
And there was a whole little group of people who meet up and go looking for these guys! Their gear! They were all super nice and sharing as well, so fun. Why isn’t there a slug emoji 🤔

Went nudibranch searching yesterday! This is only the second time I’ve specifically been looking for these dudes but they are soooo cool.
Definitely need to make time to keep trying, I really want to see a Hopkin’s Rose, it looks like a hot pink koosh ball.
According to the internet, I spotted a:
Clown Triopha
Spotted Triopha
Cockerell’s Dorid
San Diego Dorid
Sea Lemon
Some of these dudes are pretty similar and I know nothing except they look cool so I could be totally wrong.

Even though I’m the one that asked for the photos, I’m super awkward when it’s not a costume so @dorisaurusmakes had to do a lot of “oh hm, maybe not that face” with me 😂
And then she made magic ✨💖✨

I really loved the bundle of lights on my head, but we did that last in case they got tangled in my hair and so we were already really tired. Something to keep in mind to try again later though!

Last year @dorisaurusmakes 💖 graciously did a portrait session with me prior to having yet another bit of skin cancer removed from my face. Due to being irradiated it likely won’t be the last, and I was feeling some sort of way about it. Super shout out for far more than the photos, but for her amazing support 😭

We set up a mini studio in her garage and hung it with a bunch of fairy lights ✨
