Good morning! Today is May 3rd… and I’m feeling so powerful. I’ve been through so much in life, but one thing about me—I always rise. I built myself up from nothing, brick by brick, lesson by lesson.

This video, this song… it means everything to me. It represents my journey, my strength, and every moment I refused to give up. I’ve let people knock my crown down before… more than once. But not anymore.

I am so truly blessed and honored to be nominated for the bariatric warrior award at the JBY awards this year for 2025. Honestly, looking back at everything I have gone through it is truly an honor to even be nominated. And. Looking back at these pictures really show me what I have accomplished in this bariatric community and in this bariatric journey. Behind every white coat is a human being and behind every patient is a story. 🤍🎬

I’m so grateful to have been part of @thedoctorsindoc documentary project, celebrating @drbenae and his work as a neurosurgeon. Learning about the person behind the white coat, the lives he touches, and the patient experience made this moment so meaningful to me.

Thank you to @thedoctorsindoc In team for welcoming me and allowing me to be part of this monumental moment. It was an honor to help celebrate a story rooted in humanity, compassion, and purpose.

People look at the before and after and see weight loss.

I look at it and remember the fucking fight it took to get here.

Bariatric surgery was NOT the easy way out for me. It damn near took me OUT.

I had surgery not once, but TWICE because of complications. I almost lost my life. I had to have my stomach reconstructed. I dealt with pain, fear, tears, complications, and moments where I questioned whether I would ever feel like myself again.

So please don’t look at my transformation and think this shit came easy.

I FOUGHT FOR THIS BODY.
I FOUGHT FOR THIS LIFE.
I FOUGHT TO STILL BE HERE.

There were days nobody saw. Pain nobody understood. Tears I wiped away and kept moving. My body has been through hell, and somehow, I’m still standing.

So yeah, I’m fucking proud of myself.

And I’ll be damned if I let ANYONE make me feel guilty for celebrating how far I’ve come.

You don’t have to understand my journey.
You don’t have to like me.
And you damn sure don’t have to approve of me.

Because after everything I’ve survived, I’ve learned that everybody’s opinion of me isn’t my damn business.

I might not be everyone’s cup of tea…

but that’s perfectly fine because I drink COFFEE anyway. ☕️💅🏼

I am so rich in life. 🥹🩵 Not because of what I have, but because of WHO God has placed in my life.

I have my sisters. My safe spaces. My prayer warriors. My hype women. The women who celebrate me when I win, hold me when life gets heavy, remind me who I am when I forget, and love me through every version of myself.

Thank you, Jesus. 😭🙏🏾

There were seasons when I prayed for genuine friendships. I prayed for women with good hearts. Women I could trust. Women I could laugh with, cry with, grow with, pray with, dream with—and just DO LIFE with.

And God answered those prayers by sending me these amazing women. 🥹

When I look around at my life, I realize just how wealthy I really am.

I am rich in love.
Rich in sisterhood.
Rich in memories.
Rich in people who genuinely want to see me win.

And THAT is a kind of wealth money could never buy.

My sisters, I love you more than I probably say. Thank you for showing up for me, loving me, covering me, and reminding me that I never have to do life alone.

God knew exactly who I needed. And He sent me y’all. 🩵😭🙏🏾

You might see a girl who lives in comic book T-shirts, leggings, messy buns, and comfy clothes… but baby, don’t get it twisted. 😏💅🏼

When it’s time to PULL OUT THE LOOK and SHOW UP… trust me, I SHOW TF UP. 🔥👠✨

That’s the thing about me—there are so many different sides to Mandi that people still haven’t figured out yet. And honestly? That’s the fun part. 😂

Sweet. Crazy. Nerdy. Bougie. Mom mode. Wife mode. Bronx attitude. Boricua spice. Coffee obsessed. Comic-book loving. And when the occasion calls for it? GLAMMED ALL THE WAY UP. 💋✨

Simply Mandi was never created to fit inside anybody’s box. I’m something you can’t quite predict, definitely can’t duplicate, and there’s no competition when I’m just busy being ME. 💚🩷

🐾 STOP JUDGING HIM BY HIS BREED 🐾

It honestly makes me sad that some people can look at my dog and automatically assume he’s aggressive simply because he’s a Rottweiler.

This sweet face has a name: Baelon Targaryen Torres. 🖤🐾

Yes, dogs can show aggression, and breed, genetics, socialization, training, environment, health, and individual temperament can all play a role. But a dog should not automatically be labeled dangerous just because of what breed he is.

Baelon is being raised with love, structure, training, patience, and purpose. Most importantly, he is being raised and trained to become a service dog for my autistic son. 🧩💙

So when someone looks at him and immediately sees a “dangerous dog,” I wish they could see what I see.

I see my sweet baby boy.
I see a goofy face and that big smile. 😂
I see a dog who loves his family.
I see a future helper and companion for my son.
I see a member of the Torres family. ❤️

Why should Baelon be judged or pay the price because other humans have mistreated, poorly trained, neglected, or intentionally encouraged aggression in dogs that happen to look like him?

Judge the individual dog—not the stereotype attached to the breed.

My baby deserves the opportunity to show the world exactly who he is. And if you actually take the time to meet him, you might realize that this big ol’ Rottweiler is just a giant baby underneath all those muscles. 😂🖤🐾

You know what I realized? 😂 People talk SO much shit about me because deep down… they’re bothered that they could NEVER be me. 💅🏼

I make moves while you make excuses.
I make shit happen while you sit around twiddling your thumbs watching what I’M doing. 👀☕️

And THAT is exactly why my name stays in mouths I’ve never asked to be in. 😘

I’m loud when I need to be. I speak my mind. I stand TEN TOES DOWN for the people I love, and I don’t let anybody disrespect, use, or take advantage of them.

I’m a strong Puerto Rican woman straight outta the Bronx. 🇵🇷🗽🔥
The attitude came factory-installed, baby. 😂

And confidence? Oh, I got PLENTY. I could teach you confidence 100 times, give you the notes, the PowerPoint AND the damn study guide… and you STILL wouldn’t understand it. 🤣💅🏼

So stop confusing your jealousy with something being wrong with ME.

Don’t get mad because I’m spicy. 🌶️
Don’t get mad because I’m confident.
Don’t get mad because I make moves.

Imagine being a GROWN MAN claiming you’re big, bad, tough, and supposedly not scared of anybody… but somehow my name stays in your mouth ONLY when I’m not in the room. 😂😂

Baby, if I’m “just a woman” and I’m supposedly so “crazy,” why are you whispering about me like we’re in middle school? SAY IT WITH YOUR CHEST. 😘

The funniest part? Y’all really need to learn how SMALL this world is. Everything you say has a funny little way of packing its bags, catching a flight, and coming RIGHT BACK TO ME. ☕️🐸

And every time it does, I just laugh because you’re proving my point FOR ME.

You can call me crazy.
You can call me difficult.
You can make up whatever little bedtime story helps you feel better.

But one thing you CANNOT call me is scared. 💅🏼

Meanwhile, you’re apparently terrified of a woman you claim isn’t worth worrying about. Make it make sense. 😂

And PLEASE stop confusing my silence with ignorance. I hear things. I know things. I just don’t react to everything because sometimes it’s much more entertaining watching people expose themselves without my help. 🍿

I don’t need revenge.
I don’t need threats.
And I definitely don’t need to chase anybody down.

Sometimes I look at our life and wonder… how did we make it through everything? 🥹❤️

It started with a New York City girl 🗽 meeting an island man from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 at the most magical place on Earth. 🏰 I had no idea that the man standing in front of me would someday become my husband, my best friend, the father of our children, my safe place…and now, my Soldier. 🇺🇸

Our love story was never perfect.

We’ve cried together. We’ve struggled. We’ve watched life test us over and over again. We’ve raised two incredible boys with autism and one amazing daughter, survived seasons that could’ve broken us, and held onto each other when life became too heavy.

And somehow…

we’re still here. Still loving. Still fighting. Still choosing each other. ❤️

June 2027 will make 13 years of us, and if I could go back to that first day at Disney, I’d whisper to myself:

“That’s him. That’s the man you’re going to build a life with. Don’t let go.” 🥹

And now I watch the man I love put on the uniform of the United States Army, and my heart has never been more proud.

Baby, wherever those boots take you, please remember…

A piece of my heart goes with you.

I’ll be here loving you, praying for you, waiting for you, and choosing you through every mile and every chapter.

Because after almost 13 years, you’re still the person I want beside me when I’m 80 years old, telling our grandchildren about how Grandma met Grandpa at Disney. 🥹❤️
