Bucket list moment!

This week, @sindont and I hosted our first show together - featuring @tuibrand, Sheila Maithel, and my paintings/jewelry.

We wanted the art exhibit to feel interactive, welcoming, affordable, and the kind of event you’d go to on a whim - just to get out of the house and socialize.

I’m so happy we were able to pull it all together and make it happen, because it’s been 3 days and I’m still not over it. Met so many strangers, so many friends, and for myself and others, it was exactly the kind of thing we needed.

Here’s to many more community gatherings! See you at the next one!!

"Infinite Sari" is for everyone.

In popular culture today, Draupadi is most often shown wearing a sari. However, the epic is traditionally dated to centuries or millennia BCE, and describes Draupadi as wearing an antariya, a gender-neutral unstitched garments that predates the stereotypically feminine sari (and dhoti) by centuries.

"Infinite Sari" is a concession to popular imagination; "Infinite Antariya" or "Infinite Vastra" would have been a more "accurate" project title, would equally describe the digital and fabric output of this project, and would better reflect the gender-neutral intent of this project, because abuse is abuse and can be perpetrated and experienced by anyone of any gender.
