They asked if I’d like to show a presentation on the screen, I said no I need everyone to just listen to me and give me full attention. Thankfully I got validated when someone later said each sentence in my speech was a management lesson on it’s own. With 31 founders of small creative & cultural businesses, 30 students of luxury & lifestyle management programme, 3 faculties in the room, I was obviously trembling until I took over the prestigious podium and started to hear my voice in that gorgeous audio system there. I was told I was eloquent, calm, composed, humorous and sophisticated. This will stay special in my memory forever. Having studied museum design as a module, @mercedesbenzmuseum was quite a treat in Stuttgart. Among the most beautiful & must-see museums in the world, i felt they’re holding the narrative really strong and offering every bit of interactive experience there could be. Thanks @karnika_jain & @zaronrodrigues for agreeing on this little detour. 🚙

I remember being hooked to travel shows as a kid, I think I’d watched more of those than cartoons. Samantha brown had visited Lego land in Germany and i always thought there’s only one Lego land and nowhere else. (The now more famous amusement parks in Hong Kong and Dubai came up much much later). When we learned it’s an hour and half away from my sister Karnika’s home, we added this to the itinerary and went raging right after; a complete vibe change in the same day.

Not sure if going to an amusement park for oneself is a thing.. I’m amused at how amused i could still be and i know I will never lose touch with the kid in me. taken in LEGOLAND Deutschland by @singhalbharat

Until a couple years ago I couldn’t get myself off the floor of a pool and look i plunged into a cold water lake in Germany, bordering Switzerland and Austria. I had not planned for it, but an impromptu notice put up by Bharat Singhal (@singhalbharat) on our WhatsApp group, Culinary Conversations, earlier in the day made me alter my plans for the evening and head to La Croute, Sunder Nagar Market, for an enlightening conversation accompanied by selections from the restaurant's menu - including one of Ipsa Sambhi's (@ipsasareen) delicious pot pies - and of course Bili Hu (@bili.hu.coffee), my choice being a Vietnames Cold Brew.

The conversation was conducted knowledgeably by the food influencer Shilpa Bhasin (@shillpanbhasin), who gave us all, including @rohantastic_24 (the curator of the food court at Sunder Nursery) and chef consultant Vandana Dewan, opportunities to ask questions and unspool memories. It was raining outside, and inside, ideas were pouring!

Bharat shared his motto - Passion, Patience and Perseverance - and his favourite Richard Branson inspirational quote - "If someone offers you an amazing opportunity, but you are not sure you can do it, say yes, and then learn to do it later". He revealed why he did not choose the painless path of joining his family's luxury marble inlay business - he declared that he does not have the patience to work with karigars whose pace of work could at best be described as languid! - and how his story has become a business case study at all IIMs. Bharat also remembered fondly the support he got, in his firmative years, from the doyenne of Indian coffee, Sunalini Menon, and a couple of committed officers at the Coffee Board.

It was a conversation that had me riveted all through. And, befittingly, it ended with the ritual of breaking a pie! taken in La Croute India by @singhalbharat

Bharat Singhal, Founder of @bili.hu.coffee , didn’t begin his journey as a coffee entrepreneur. Trained as a retail designer, his fascination with Indian coffee started while working on a Coffee Board of India project. What began as curiosity soon evolved into a mission to bring world-class Indian estate coffees, once largely reserved for export, back to Indian consumers with authenticity, craftsmanship and purpose.
