⚡️easonal menu, turn up the heat

.
.

Boyyyyyy did we borrow from the Caribbean cookbooks last Saturday. We pulled prawns from the @greenpointfish freezer and put ‘em on the table with turmeric, coco milk, herbs, plantains, allspice, short ribs, garlic, ginger, mango, and other things. What can we say? summer heat in New Yawk calls for some fresh f*kng flavors 🏝

From there it’s a simple set of rules: 3 hours to turn a prep table full of food into a 2-course meal for 25 people. Guests vote on their favorite menu & winner gets $450. These guys broke it down into marinades, pastes, and sauces; and built it back up into jerk shrimp & plantains, ribs with fried rice, Sib’s Caribbean-Asian spare ribs; the list goes on. Mind-melting stuff that @jeremyallenwhitefinally could only dream of.

That’s midnight honey.. this WAS midnight honey EP 004.. and we’ve got our next one on the books for Saturday 8/24. In the meantime it’s love for @sibwavus / @devonwadee.. and respect for @sirpreme / @llamaluo: team #1 and our reigning champs 👑 taken in Brooklyn, New York by @sirpreme

An Evening to Remember ✨🍴🌸

Mi Zã Plaz had the honor of curating a multisensory experience for @on x @bloomingdales at the historic Maxwell House in NYC. From the intimate candlelit dinner and vibrant florals by Verdure Designer Florist 💐 to a meticulously plated menu and warm conversation, every detail celebrated connection, creativity, and community.

A true fusion of flavor, lifestyle, and design — crafted with care & intention by the Mi Zã Plaz Culinary & Lifestyle team.

Mangrove Culinary Archives Vol. 01: Coconut

From Coconut Wata to Table.

Some of our greatest culinary treasures aren’t found in cookbooks. They’re carried through generations, preserved through lived experiences, shared traditions and the people within our communities.

For our inaugural volume, we gathered around one familiar ingredient, the coconut, to explore its versatility, cultural significance and the stories connected to it.

At the center of our evening was Roderick, a longtime coconut legacy vendor at Flatbush & Caton, whose knowledge and experiences guided us through an evening of conversation, culinary exploration and a shared meal.

Curated and led by @sirpreme The Artist Formerly Known as Chef (Chef Love) of @mi_za_plaz

the evening brought together thoughtful culinary expressions and something far greater than the food itself.

The preservation of our stories, our traditions and the people who carry them.

Because food is more than sustenance. It’s history, identity, memory and connection.

This is the Mangrove Culinary Archives. A living collection of the culinary knowledge and foodways that make our communities who we are.

One ingredient. Countless stories. A living archive.

Vol. 01 is just the beginning.

We are honored to welcome Leon Anthony Jardine — “The Artist Formerly Known as Chef” — as an Honorary Founding Member of Fashion Forward.

Culinary + Lifestyle Director, Mi Zã Plaz

For Leon, food has never simply been about the plate.

It is a language.

A way to tell stories about migration, identity, memory, community, music, fashion, art and culture.

Through Mi Zã Plaz, Leon creates experiences rooted in the global Diaspora — bringing together food, hospitality, storytelling and creative expression through what he calls Diasporas Cuisine.

His philosophy is simple and powerful:

Food is the medium, not the destination.

And that is exactly why his voice belongs in the House.

Fashion is shaped by far more than clothing.

It is shaped by what we eat.
What we listen to.
How we gather.
What we remember.
What we create.
And the cultures we carry with us.

Welcome to Fashion Forward, Leon. 🤍

The Future of Fashion is Shaped Through Culture.
