Thank you @niketoronto @nikerunning @culture.athletics and @narrativexpr and all of the dedicated and talented individuals for making this BAD ASS event come together. Seeing everyone work together and support one another was another example of how the run community means so much more than just running. Good luck to everyone running the Toronto Marathon next month. And a special shout out to @sunmingroot for running 30km AND carrying my bike up 6 flights of stairs 😂😂

I am SO PROUD OF THIS WOMAN!! ✨

Despite being diagnosed with cancer herself, Sarah wanted to dedicate this (very spontaneous) 10k run to raising funds to help her long-time friend @sahvanad and her 15 year old son Jaxson.

If you haven’t seen any of Sarah’s stories, Jaxson was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and is currently undergoing chemotherapy at Sick Kids Hospital.

Everyone has been SO generous in their support of Sarah and our family, so we wanted to try to spread the generosity and care with others in need as well. If you have any interest and ability to donate I know Sarah, Sahvana and Jaxson would really appreciate it. They are working hard to hit their fundraising raising goal and could use the support.

Speaking from first-hand experience— even a tiny donation or just a kind word from a stranger can make all the difference. It’s hard to truly appreciate how hard these times really are until you go through it yourself. And you never truly appreciate how impactful support is until you experience it yourself. It honestly means the world and makes all the difference. ❤️

PLEASE READ: We’ve kept this pretty private until now, but we’re finally ready to share what our family has been going through over the past few months.

In July, @sjdeas was diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer. Thankfully, it was caught early, she has an incredible medical team, and we are very optimistic about the outcome.

Sarah and I aren’t particularly comfortable asking for help, but with treatment starting and some significant costs ahead of us that aren’t covered by OHIP, we’ve realized that maybe this is a time to get a little more comfortable accepting it.

We’ve put together a GoFundMe for anyone who would like to help support Sarah and our family through the months ahead. There are more details about the expenses there, but the largest item is Perjeta, a medication that costs $12,000 out of pocket.

There is absolutely no pressure to donate. Sharing the page, sending some love, or simply being in our corner means a lot to us.

We’re incredibly grateful for the community around us. ❤️
