Back in 2019, right after I went through my weight transformation, Men’s Health did a story on me and my weight loss journey.

I was over of the moon. It was my first real opportunity to share my story on a larger scale, and potentially help others who had been going through the same struggles that I had.

Then I read the comments section. While there were some positive messages, I zeroed in on the negative. Despite a complete overhaul in my lifestyle and feeling the best I had ever felt, the haters were still out in force.

At the time, I couldn’t believe it. I had literally worked off a third of my body weight— the size of a young adult— and there were STILL people behind their screens talking sh*t!🤣

That was the first time that I truly realized that there will ALWAYS be people out there who want to see you fail.

However, the truth is, they don’t see the adversity that you have to overcome on a daily basis. The consistent focus on small wins. They don’t see the early mornings and the sets that bring you to within an inch of your breaking point.

Simply put, they don’t see the struggle, so why should they be able to negatively influence the outcome?

So, stay laser focused on your goals… And the next time you run into a hater, either let em’ slide or put it in the cookie jar for the next time you need a little extra ammunition to push further 😏🚀 by @sklartacus

The last few weeks have been incredibly tough. Trying to fit a lifetime of memories, lessons, and love into just a few minutes feels impossible.

I had the honor of sharing a few stories about my Dad on Sunday. There’s so much more I could say, but these are some of the things I wanted people to know about the man he was, how he always showed up, and how much he means to me.

This doesn’t feel real. You always know this day will come, but even when you see the signs, you somehow convince yourself you have more time.

Yesterday, I lost one of my best friends. My dad was always there for me. He believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. No matter what I was doing, I always knew I had him in my corner.

This doesn’t feel real.

Such a range of emotions after hearing this news, and so many questions I have.

On one hand I’m gutted. All that work, all those miles, all the sacrifices to get ready for race day.

On the other hand- I’m thankful because now I know things could have end badly.

The frustrating part is that I am always preaching about heart health. My clients all probably get annoyed with my obsession with tracking heart metrics. All my initial test results were consistent someone who has a strong heart and is indicated someone who is an endurance athlete.— and after all, I’m only 34!

But unfortunately, genetics play a role, and without going under the hood, you can’t always see everything.

How long have I been dealing with this?
How long have I been racing like this?
Did this start before my weight transformation?
Did my change in lifestyle save my life?

I’ll never truly know. All I can do is take a step back, treat this thing as best as we can, and get back to it.🥺 by @sklartacus

The person who makes me laugh the hardest, pushes me to be better, and makes every adventure worth taking.
