I had the pleasure to be hosted by the @thecomicunderground on their show Split Panels for a second time. This time, i got to draw with @jeffwhitingart, as well tackled the subject of Spider-Man. When i saw what Jeff was doing for the show, I knew that tackling a traditional Spidey was out of the question since his looked so good. So, I took it in a very different direction and drew Spidey from Marvel Zombies.
.
This was done as an homage to one of my biggest inspirations, Bernie Wrightson. You can seen the piece i referenced above. No one was better at the dramatic lighting than Bernie. I learned so much from doing this piece. Tons of fun to do!!
.
Thanks for having me on again, and congrats to @tn_comic_collector for being the winning bidder!!
It's so fun to be on with a fellow artist and draw while talking comics and craft. Great drawing with you Jeff!!!

THE FINAL BATTLE!
A few weeks, I did a YouTube live stream celebrating the 40th anniversary of my favorite game franchise, The Legend of Zelda. I started thos piece during that stream, knowing full well I wouldn't finish it in the duration of the stream. However, I've been working on it in the small bits of free time. The franchise means so much, so I wanted to do a big piece to celebrate. I landed on the climactic final battle from Ocarina of Time. Hope you dig it!!

Day 9. Just a quick one of a girl dressed as a witch. Its always good to use these daily sketches to try something different. In this case, drawing a younger girl. In comics, you gotta be ready to draw everything. Young people, old people, attractive people, monsters, trees, buildings, animals, smoke, rain, vehicles...you get the idea. So, stepping out of your comfort zone is the only way to learn things. Also, I like to do quick sketches like this one and see where it lands. Good, or bad, you learn something. And that's what makes art exciting for me.

Day 8. Missed yesterday. But I have a good excuse. I was decorating my yard for Halloween. Im a little behind this year. Its a large undertaking, and i still have a little ways to go. Ill he finished tomorrow. Anyway, today, I worked and got home later, so I just sketched out something real quick. I recently bought a new Halloween blow mold that's the grim reaper. So, he inspired tonight's sketch. Halloween is quickly approaching!! Isn't it the most wonderful time of year?!

Day 6. Today, I wanted to see what i could do when I used only a brush. And a couple of markers. I used a pentel pocket brush pen, which uses cartridges that can be replaced. The cartridge that was in this one started to run out, which let me do some fun dry brush stuff. Also went horizontal with this one as I thought panoramic look would fit the landscape. I dont think ill ever tire of sketching Halloween scenes.

Day 5. I know, I know. I missed day 4. I work a 10+ hour a day job. Gimme a break. Anyway, someone a few days back suggested my take on Lock, Shock and Barrel from Nightmare Before Christmas. Well, that sounded like fun. So, here's Lock's mask, and a quick caetoony version of him. Wanted to give it a more horror look and do some fun lighting. Think the other two will follow. I do really love that movie. The opening scene is something could watch over and over and over and over...you get the point.

Day 3! I've learned that drawing zombie versions of characters is very fun. So, to keep in the Halloween theme, here's a zombified Spider-Gwen. I'm sure we'll see more zombie versions of characters as the month goes on. Who would you like to see me turn into a zombie? Let me know in the comments!! Also, this sketch cover is for sale. Lemme know if you're interested.

Day 2. Going simple today. I never tire of classic Halloween imagery. A good jack-o-lantern just makes me smile, whether it's Halloween season or not. This art style is something I've really come to love doing. I LOVE doing my normal comic book style more than anything. But doing different styles of art and exploring in the art space is a lot of fun. Highly recommended. Anyway, see ya tomorrow!

It's October. A chill in the air, leaves crunching beneath your feet...Halloween is just around the corner. Its the most wonderful time of the year, despite what Christmas tells you. It also means, #inktober! I've tried to participate in inktober many times, but i usually fall off with my work schedule. However, im gonna try it this year. I'm following any specific prompt that's out there. But I did think it'd be fun to keep it spooky themed, so I crested this little picture. Tho8ght HallowINK had a fun ring. So. Let's see if i can do it. Every day for 31 glorious Halloween filled days.

So, Mrs. Skoot and I went to Disney World last week. Say what you want about Disney adults, we love going to the Magic Kingdom. Sure its expensive, and hot, and will most likely rain in the middle of the day. But nothing can kill the magic for me.
.
Anyway, we bought this really sweet Mickey photo holder. However, I had a really cool idea to draw an evil flame coming out of the torch he's holding instead of putting a photo in it. So, I sketched out this guy in the hotel we were staying in and colored it up. I just happened to have a blade with me for some reason, but it came in handy to cut it out. Think it turned out pretty...hot.

What would the Carnage symbiote look like if it was completely out of control? Well, more out of control than normal? Thats what I was going for here. I usually stick to a pretty similar Carnage to Mark Bagley when I draw him, seeing as how I think no one draws him better. However, this time, I wanted to get more experimental with inks, so I tried some stuff out. Learned a lot and had fun. Thats what art is all about!!
.
Question for the people. Carnage with white teeth or black teeth? Tongue or no tongue? Spoiler, theres only one correct answer: black teeth, no tongue. Tell me I'm wrong!!
