Going to Take a Stand

Going to have to make a choice.
It’s time I took a firm hard stand.
No longer can I stay a neutral
Going to shout what we demand.

Going to tell em I found the truth.
Let em know how deep I feel.
If they stand in the way of us
Going to put ya in some ordeal.

Going to ask you to heed the call
To walk and march in prayer.
To share in our means and ends
Going to wipe out our despair.

Going to be a peaceful day
Our words will reach the sky
Let our voices recite our goals.
Going to hold up the banner high.

What if…

The absurd becomes the norm.
The unprincipled becomes boss.
What if fear, fright and fantasy
Replaces friendship & freedom.

If obvious fraud is unaccountable,
Is it already deemed acceptable.
If the right to bear arms is absolute
We accept mass killings of children.

If white collar crime is pardoned,
The wearer has the get out of jail card.
Let the idle rich avoid paying tax
While the working class is harassed.

If government & labor is the problem,
Big Business sure ain’t the cure.
If we admire the rich on Wall Street
Take care of the masses on Main Street.

If you met someone

You might think you should
Never have sought to meet.

How Could You Know Me

How could you know me
If I don’t know myself?
An Introvert is hard to know.
Am I shy, rude, aloof or quiet?
I feel the drip of lost energy.
Aloneness is comfortable
So long as I know when it may
Turn to the feeling of loneliness.

An Overthinking Introvert is
A daily blessing and a curse.
I’m told to live today: the present.
When lost decades won’t leave.
Should I forget understanding,
And just accept with no doubts.
Existence is a miracle, each day
A chance again to live as I am.

Memory

I’d love to be a memory
One that makes you smile.
And one that brings a tear
For our every passing mile.

I feel I’ve grown different
And every one’s the same.
Why we’ve grow so apart
Don’t think one is to blame.

I’d love to be your one mistake.
Late at night still on your mind.
And when most tired and weak
You realize you were so blind.

October

October was the eight month
Before it became the tenth. Latin
For octo or 8th, it is the month
Where I live that two seasons
Make love every day.

Some days the moist warmth
Of Summer. Where the nights
Still insist on nakedness. When
The days remind me that the
Sun and Shore draws us close.

Some days the gentle breeze is
No longer warm but calls us to
Long pants, blankets and sweaters.
The leaves slowly change colors to
Soon crunch under our feet.

October is more like life than other
Months. Daily surprises. Uncertainty.
Summer trying so hard to survive.
Autumn knows it will dominate our
Days but we know not for how long.

Understanding — Acceptance

In my early morning urban walk
This beautiful morn I felt the first
Crunch of fallen leaves. Season’s
Change as do the questions I ask.

Within my overthinking self I asked
Must one understand before accepting?
I think I can accept and stop trying
To understand if I don’t ask Why?

Why. Three letters
I wish never found each other.
I used to think Why was the most
Critical part of a missing puzzle.

Why did he come home when
Clear he didn’t want to be there?
Why did she scream Why when
It was she who wanted to leave?

It took me too long to accept that
Understanding was unimportant.
Why: did not, does not, never matters.
I’ll choose acceptance the next time. .
