Title - CARDINAL DEMONS
----------------------------------------

Cardinal demons,
Lurking in deep,
Tangled, twisted
Canopies,
Waiting to fulfill,
A crooked will.

Warping realities,
Like poisoned vines,
In thorned embraces,
With splintered trunks,
Crippled and maimed.

Sun - starved,
Shrouded under,
Their veil of pride,
Till rot prevails.

My latest set of paintings—I call them ‘siblings’—were inspired by a moment at the Galleries of Scotland on a fall visit last year. As I entered one of the galleries along the grand hall, I spotted the silhouette of a man in a bowler hat staring down the length of the red hall, the spot not lit by one of the lights meant to light the art, making the silhouette of the bowler hat even more striking. He wasn’t viewing a particular piece of art, nor looking at any person, rather fixed in position, hands balanced on a cane, still like a statue, an additional piece of art in the room. He did not engage with anyone, nor did anyone engage him. By the time I viewed the paintings, I turned round and he was gone. Who was this mysterious man? Who wears a bowler hat and carries a cane in 2024? Eventually I concluded that the museum had hired him. I looked for other staged actors while in the galleries, but did not spot anyone else dressed or positioned in period costume. It wasn’t until I painted the first painting (green walls), that I spotted a confirmed clue—a tiny sign on his cane. Had he not been sitting in a darkened area I might have seen it that day, but in retrospect, I’m glad I didn’t, making his presence more impactful. There were visitors in the background, but I chose to omit them, except for one in the second painting, giving the two pieces a relational aspect to analyze. #oilonwood #contemporaryrealist #contemporaryrealism #realistpainter #myart

Just setting up a reel becaise I’m learning how to. I have to thank my big brother for the Blue Angels photos!! It’s such an incredible sight, when you see them ripping at 400mph and 7.0 g-forces, shaking buildings with their sonic booms. Storming Biscayne Bay, Key Biscayne and Hollywood/Ftla. Beaches🛩️🩵✨⚡️and also a big shoutout for all the accolades these last two weeks. I am humbled, thankful and grateful by your words and writer friends support

This deeply written piece resonates from within life’s experience, its defining moments and the struggle between environmental phenomenons, protecting our elements and good vs. evil in the world. It’s about power and corruption. @rkgandhi @sabian_blade72

“Affliction”

You hit me like a tidal wave, with black skies lit by lightening and echoing thunderstorms crashing all around me.
While inflicting insurmountable pain and viscously wounding my innocent heart.

Then you left me with ruptured memories, a tsunami of debris-filled emotions. Like volcanic-eroding ashes to blinded eyes, once burning brightly.
As you ripped my once innocent world apart.

I’m a cascading waterfall of tear-filled rage, drowning in last summer love’s existence. Thrashing wildly, unconsciously in white-capped waters, now dragging me out to sea.
You tried robbing me of memories from a now submerged mainland replaced by washed-out dreams.

Trying to pull me under water, yet again, with your resourcefulness and inclination, a sadistic pension for affliction and calamity.

Another new author to me was brought to my attention when I was sent her June Prompts. So many to choose from, but I felt something for this one especially, thinking about those who served or are serving their country in the difficult times of war. Love letters never grow old for me. They are both flattering and an expression of true love you can’t feel in a text. The penmanship, the paper, the perfume, the ink…it made my heart sink. So here it goes. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for your service❤️🙏🏼🌎

JUNE PROMPT #10:
Old-Fashioned Love Letters

All words by me

I sit in silence, reading your old-fashioned love letters.
They comfort my troubled soul. You’ve been called-up and away from home. Off to war you go.

I pray for your safe return, as my own war-torn heart burns for you. I miss kissing your cherry-blossomed lips, but their stain remains on the tip of my tongue too.

I suffer nightly between sheets silently. You’re not where you’re supposed to be. Clutching your letters to my breast, I feel your every word deeply.

I too am at war with my self, living for your next love letter to arrive. Spirits rush with anticipation, then delicately unfolding the parchment you touched and therefore, touching me. This is how I survive.

As I fixate on your penmanship, tracing the curvatures in each scribed word, as if it were your body. They flow so softly, passionately, moving me like a songbird.

I await your return to me, to flooding my ears with your handsome voice. I love your letters indeed. I miss you, understandably. You are the essence of me. I took a vow, made my choice.
Signed Lovingly, Me

Thank you @a.c.salt & @in_the_ether_poetry for such a lovely array of JUNE PROMPTS.

This one was hauntingly familiar. I like to write about words I can relate to and paint a picture through a story of prose. I hope you all enjoy it. I certainly enjoyed writing it, without clue of where words would take me. Have a beautiful day everyone!!

Affliction

Tormented presently by endless voices, mocking me for my past’s lonely choices.

Tossing like a tumbleweed, my tempestuous heart still punishing me.
I’ve tried all the remedies, to alter my future’s destiny.

I dismissed your love, placing you on a shelf, like a box filled with new shoes, barely worn.
An out-of-reach place next to my other wrongs.

Letting go felt right, I stand by my convictions.
Paid the “Lonely Choices Club” price, my heart, serving a life sentence of affliction.

Daydreams of what might have been, or were we meant to be?
I am living proof in “A Christmas Carol” movie.
Haunted by ghosts I didn’t see.

Now you haunt my every dream, between twilight and dusk. Heart shaking, spirit breaking, torment my soul.
Yet, doing it so beautifully.

Tanka Saturday
I love this boy of mine. When you rescue, they rescue you right back. When you save a life, that is a life you’re responsible for watching over. Tied forever, he knows. Who I am and my love shows. He melts in my arms and cuddles in my lap. His life is the best life he could ever have. What a difference a year makes. To think I cried to a friend on a Thursday night, after two years of searching, I was ready to see a breeder. She said “Keep the faith,” and just like that, I went to my IG account that night, and there he was🖤🖤‼️A black Lab named “HOLLYWOOD” the place I was raised in a beachy Florida town. This was no coincidence. My prayers were answered. I was interviewed, my home visited, my bff @oceanthyme3 , drove with me to meet him that Saturday. Hours later, he was at his new home with me🙏🏼🖤✔️🐕‍🦺🐾😇☺️🕉️🙌🏼🙏🏼🛐🤲🏻

You can always run into someone you know, we still sun, walk, bike, or eat there, morning, noon and d night. It never grows old. And man, are there stories to be told!!😳😎👙⛱️☀️🐚🏓🏄🏼🚲🍺

Northern Lights

Though the tide may flow against you, I am always beside you, your northern lights.

A heavenly site,
when skies ignite with northern lights.
An artist’s palette hungers for bites.

A passionate kiss shared. Your eyes twinkling like northern lights and love blossoms by moonlight.
