don’t kiss me on my eyes, 2024

Kissing the eyes of a loved one suggests a long
departure, although abstaining from the gesture
anticipates the safeguard of their return.

This work draws from an internal familial ritual:
visiting the home of a loved one who isn’t
present and honouring their absence by leaving
a flower on their door. The act becomes a silent
offering, that awaits completion when their
return acknowledges the presence left behind.

‘dont kiss me on my eyes’ lingers in the liminal
space of this ritual, dwelling in the delicate
tension of waiting, where absence is felt as both
loss and promise.

so appreciative of everyone who came ❤️
