When I first got to Canada I almost regretted it. I landed myself (and Charles) in a small town called penticton and the first shop we went to was Walmart… I was like what the fuck did I get myself into, everything felt so commercial. I would tell people I was going to Canada and they were like “oh are you going to whistler” or “are you working in Banff?”. Have you heard of apex in Penticton??? Yeah probably not mate. But anyway besides the point I’m so happy that I got to see the small slice of paradise Penticton offered (penticton is not these photos btw). Aswell it was lovely to experience the small town ski hill vibe and got to meet some amazing people! As time moved on we went to Vancouver island, had a blast of a summer (quite literarily) and worked for a Wildland fire fighting company (last photo) shout out to all the people i worked with!! If your’e ever in canada i highly recommend doing that. So I’m slowly getting to the point that Canada has really grown on me and has been quite the slow burner which has made me form this special connection with the place. All the people we have a met and the places we have seen have been truly incredible (like the photos above (which are photos within the Rockies so now I understand why people ask if you’re going to Banff). But yeah… canada is an absolute stunner of a country with so many opportunities, beautiful people and i am just super grateful 🥲 by @skylajan.e

The art of living life in limbo -

After 2 years of endless winter, a summer was finally needed. Having a summer was an uncomfortable idea, I had been so comfortable living in a winter loop, back and forth northern to southern hemispheres. Having this time away from winter has given me the time to truly detach from my “winter identity”. Sometimes we get so caught up, we attach so much of ourselves to our careers and our hobbies, we forget to just truly be. Having this time in limbo has given me the space to contemplate my life, my fears, my habits, my thought patterns and how I can love myself, others and life more deeply. It is so interesting that we get so caught up in doing, achieving, trying so hard to be successful that we so unconsciously bring ourselves out of presence. by @skylajan.e
