After 20 years of really hard work by thousands of amazing people, we have welcomed our very first i'iwi honeycreeper forest bird to the Pōhakuokalā Gulch Community Forest Restoration Project. This bird was seen foraging the lehua and Iliahi blossoms drinking nectar. This cute chubby little bird was spotted by Skyline Conservation’s board president Danny Boren who snapped these photos. The i’iwi bird has now been on site for the last 4 days. This is a major indicator in the health of this ecosystem we have been reestablishing since 2002. So many thanks are in order to the thousands of volunteers who have touched the soil and planted native trees. Thanks to the donors who support us. Thanks to our 501c-3 partner Nā Koa Manu Conservation. Thanks to our grant funders USDA/NRCS and Maui County Mayors Office/ Innovation and Sustainability Division. Our management team had the wonderful opportunity this past week to get out of the office and head upcountry to Kula to plant some native trees.

Our "field trip" to Skyline Hawaii was to check out the incredible work being done by Skyline Conservation Initiative (@skylineconservation).

It was truly inspiring to see the effort being made up there to remove the invasive eucalyptus and restore the native hawaiian forest. It's a decades long process, and we applaud their work and commitment.

Big mahalo to Joe and the team up there making the magic happen 👏 👏 👏 taken in Skyline Eco-Adventures Zipline- Haleakala by @skylineconservation
