Looks good = tastes good? You guys know I gravitate towards pretty places, but a restaurant focusing on food needs to have more than aesthetics. I think this is a perfect late-night and date-night spot. Here’s my review: 🅖🅘🅝🅖🅔🅡 🅑🅨 🅒🅗🅘🅛🅛🅐🅧 Across the Chillax family, Ginger is the one built for dinner, with a Chinese-leaning kitchen and a room made for date nights and celebrations. With the new menu, they’re bringing in classics done the traditional way, like Hainan Chicken Rice, Typhoon Pork Rib and Pineapple Fried Rice, alongside the modern dishes their regulars already know them for. I got a short feedback card that went straight to their chef, and my visit helped decide what items stay! 🄾🄲🅃🄾🄿🅄🅂 🄱🅁🄰🅅🄰🅂 - $29.00 The image of this dish is what made me try it. It came out looking just like the pictures. I was in awe! I love how much was on this plate and how well everything went with the octopus. Octopus can taste a bit plain by itself, but this has flavour. The octopus was dense and chewy, as expected, but it wasn’t too tough (however, I wouldn’t recommend trying to bite a piece off). The crispy home fries were unexpectedly DELICIOUS and had the perfect amount of salt (I find most restaurants don’t add enough). They were a 10/10 with the truffle mayo! The rich ragout of ‘nduja, kimchi, caramelized onion, fried garlic and herbs really made the whole dish come together. Would absolutely recommend this. 🄷🄾🅄🅂🄴 🄼🄰🅉🄴🅂🄾🄱🄰 - $18.50 Mazesoba is a Japanese soupless ramen tossed with a seasoned soy sauce(shoyu tare). You first mix all the ingredients together, including the serving of kombu vinegar. I did think the vinegar would overpower the dish, but it doesn’t. It seems they provided the right amount. There are so many ingredients and flavours going on, which makes this dish so interesting. 🅃🄷🄴 🅂🄴🅁🅅🄸🄲🄴 Absolutely amazing experience. From being welcomed in, to the ordering process, and having the staff check in on us throughout the meal- the overall dining experience was amazing. 📍 100 Steeles Ave. W #18, Thornhill ON by @skysthelimit.dining
🌶️ A taste of Sichuan! Kung Pao Chicken This was really interesting! I didn’t know what to expect. I love lychee but have never had it with chicken or peanuts. It sounded like an interesting combination, and I was curious how it would all blend together. Surprisingly, the flavours didn’t actually “mix”, which was good because the lychee was sweet, the peanuts were nutty, and the chicken was savoury, so nothing overpowered each other. Scallops and Shrimp The vermicelli was tastyyy and I love how the noodles absorbed the garlic flavour. The scallops and shrimp were cooked well, and honestly don’t have any complains about this dish. One of my favs Signature Boiled Fish I love some heat 🔥 and this definitely served. Don’t eat the chillies or bite into the peppercorns! The fish was very tender and I was shocked at how it just melted in my mouth. I’m not a fan of fish, so this wasn’t my favourite dish, but it also had a whole lot of bean sprouts in it which I devoured. Taro Pancakes This was sooo good. Taro has been growing on me lately! This dessert reminds me of this red bean paste dessert but I actually prefer this more. Delicious! 📍 9665 Bayview Ave #15, Richmond Hill, ON L4C 9V4 by @skysthelimit.dining
The weather is getting colder, so warm food has been sounding extra good lately 🍂 In North York, there’s this little stand serving Korean street food, with everything over $1.50 and under $6. Is it the best street food I’ve ever had? Nope 🙂‍↔️ but that’s not really what I’d come here for. It’s more of a spot for small bites and inexpensive things you can grab when you’re craving something quick, or for a late night snack. I do recommend the waffles, though! I wanted the red bean one, but they were sold out, so I went with the custard instead. It was honestly really good. Just be careful because they come out really hot, which I actually love because I prefer my food that way 🔥 by @skysthelimit.dining
I want to start off by saying the service at this location was amazing. They were kind, came to check on us, refilled our waters (which is great for me because I can finish a glass within 2 minutes), and I’m pretty sure almost every person I looked at smiled at me. It felt warm and comforting, much like the food! 🅣🅗🅔 🅕🅞🅞🅓 First off, the portion sizes for the rice noodle bowls were amazing. Being only $16.99 actually shocked me. I think we both only finished 2/3rds of our bowl. The record is 15 in one sitting. Can you finish more?? 𝓣𝓸𝓶𝓪𝓽𝓸 - $16.99 This was my friend’s dish. I did taste the broth, which gave a mild tomato flavour. The beef slices and enoki mushrooms were also generous, as you can clearly see from the shots I got! It’s hard to distinguish the two dishes by appearance but the change in broths makes them taste opposite. 𝓢𝓹𝓲𝓬𝔂 + 𝓢𝓸𝓾𝓻 - $16.99 This was mine. I preferred this over the tomato, because the tanginess was “sharp and intense” in the best way. I tend to like my broths more flavourful. The noodles were sooo good, so soft and chewy. 𝓢𝓮𝓪𝔀𝓮𝓮𝓭 𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝓼𝓸𝔂 𝓼𝓪𝓾𝓬𝓮 - $9.99 This was very interesting! The more I ate it, the more it grew on me. It was a mixture between slightly crunchy but also had a very soft texture. 𝓟𝓸𝓽𝓪𝓽𝓸 𝓼𝓵𝓲𝓬𝓮𝓼 𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝓬𝓱𝓲𝓵𝓲 - $8.99 Potato isn’t my favourite, and these definitely had that potato starch taste. They were like noodles but potato and crunchy, with more flavourful due to the chili, sauce and green onion. 𝓒𝓸𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓾𝓽 𝓛𝓪𝓿𝓪 𝓑𝓪𝓵𝓵𝓼 - $6.99 These were under “Appetizers”. They were delicious! The outside was chewy, similar to seseme balls. This came out very hot, and the inside is this tasty coconut fill. There are many locations! One is in Toronto, but here’s the one I visited: 📍 1289 Marlborough Ct #4b, Oakville, ON L6H 2R9 by @skysthelimit.dining

I think their layout is nice as it splits the room into what feels like 4 individual sections. There are both tables and semi-booths, too 🅿🆁🅰🆆🅽 🆆/ 🆅🅴🆁🅼🅸🅲🅴🅻🅻🅸 🅰🅽🅳 🅶🅰🆁🅻🅸🅲 - $29.99 This was better than expected. I was surprised everything was cooked perfectly! We didn’t have to cook or stir it, as the staff took care of preparing this dish. The noodles were tasty and garlicky, but not overpowering. The prawns were good, too. The noodles also tasted great in the spicy beef’s soup 🆂🅺🅴🆆🅴🆁🆂 - $8.99 (5) 🅴🅰🅲🅷 The beef & lamb skewers were delicious, with the right amount of spices to add flavour (not spicy). Though, I personally prefer the beef more 🅷🅾🆃 🆂🅿🅸🅲🆈 🅱🅾🅸🅻🅴🅳 🆂🅻🅸🅲🅴🅳 🅱🅴🅴🅵 - $25.99 The meat was soo tender! If you have a very low spice tolerance, this might be a bit much, but for someone who can tolerate a bit of heat, I didn’t find it overly spicy at all. The beef also paired nicely with the 🆁🅸🅲🅴 ($2.99) 🆃🅷🅴 🆂🅴🆁🆅🅸🅲🅴 We went for lunch, which is usually less busy. We waited a typical amount of time before we got our food, and everything came out in the order you see in this video 📍 3828 Hwy 7 Unit 2, Unionville, ON L3R 0B5 by @skysthelimit.dining
Rather than claiming to be the “most authentic,” @gyouramen focuses on creating a bowl of ramen people genuinely enjoy and refining it based on customer feedback. So in the spirit of that, here was my experience: 🅣🅗🅔 🅕🅛🅐🅥🅞🅤🅡 The service was good, and the presentation of each dish looked delicious! The broths were a bit more subtle than what I personally prefer, since I usually gravitate toward deep, rich flavours. This was a bit more mild and water-based. I ended up adding a little soy sauce to my Spicy Garlic Ramen. However, I think the original, more subtle broth actually adds to the cozy feeling they’re going for. It’s not overpowering or trying to impress you. It’s simply comforting. A great thing about Gyou Ramen is that they understand not everyone eats pork, so they have created chicken, beef, and vegetarian ramen options! 🅣🅗🅔 🅢🅟🅘🅒🅔 The Spicy Garlic Ramen wasn’t that spicy so I didn’t feel like I was putting up a fight with the 🌶️. I would have wanted a bit more heat. If you are a sensitive to spice but still want a bit of a kick, try this ramen (I apologize in advance if you find this spicy. There’s a possibility my spice tolerance has increased a bit 😂) However, the takowasabi definitely packed a punch, as it should, and I loveddd it. I think it would’ve been even better with a few sheets of seaweed to wrap it in, but I was pleasantly surprised by how generous the portion was! Same with the edamame. I also like how there was salt on the side, so I could control the amount that was put on the beans. 🅣🅗🅔 🅢🅔🅡🅥🅘🅒🅔 It seemed like we arrived during a shift change, so we ended up interacting with two staff members. The first was welcoming and attentive when sitting us down and grabbing our order, while the second was quick at refilling our water and helping with anything we asked. Barbecue and sushi is a winning combo! Count how many times I’ve said “Japanese BBQ” in this video 😂 Japanese barbeque is a communal dining style where bite sized pieces of meat and other foods are cooked over a grill. That’s what makes it so great for a group of friends! I can’t go through everything we got because I’d be writing an essay but here are some of my faves: 🅦🅗🅐🅣 🅦🅔 🅖🅞🅣 🔸 edamame, miso, and other appetizers 🔸 garlic enoki mushrooms & cheese corn 🔸 the lettuce for the meats 🔸 short rib (3pcs) 🔸 miso beef brisket (tasted more like a bbq sauce on beef to me. I LOVED this one) 🔸 torched salmon sushi (1pc) 🔸 all the desserts (you can order more than one for yourself!) 🅢🅔🅡🅥🅘🅒🅔 I brought friends who have never been, and they were surprised by how fast we received our order. Throughout your meal, you will probably order anywhere from 3-8 times (maybe even more) because you’ll either realize you didn’t get enough (even though you thought you did), or you’ll love certain dishes and keep wanting more 😂 the servers were more than happy to keep taking our order. No judgment felt! *Note that bigger reservations will have automatic gratuity placed on top of the bill 🅟🅡🅘🅒🅔 Monday to Thursday Adult - $42.99 Child $19.99 Friday to Sunday Adult $45.99 Child $19.99 🅞🅥🅔🅡🅐🅛🅛 It’s a great experience and a good 2 in 1 when you feel like bbq but also Japanese food in general! I’d recommend giving it a try ⭐️ #japanese #food #jbbq #barbeque #gyukyou by @skysthelimit.dining
Miss Qu is one of those spots where you go with a group of friends and share a bunch of delicious dishes 😋 a lot of the portions are big, but you can also get individual items like your own rice bowl or your choice of skewers. 🅣🅗🅔 🅕🅞🅞🅓 The high rating of 4.8 stars makes sense: 🍖 𝔹𝕣𝕒𝕚𝕤𝕖𝕕 𝕡𝕠𝕣𝕜 𝕣𝕚𝕓𝕤 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙 𝕙𝕒𝕨𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕣𝕟 (new signature dish) - $23.99 I am genuinely surprised by this. It was so tasty! The pork ribs were very tender and had a good amount of meat on each piece. The sauce was as thick as bbq sauce, with a hint of sourness at the end which I believe is from the hawthorn. The hawthorn tasted like a soft cranberry and/or plum, and while I didn’t eat it individually, the pork and hawthorn was a good combo. 🍆 𝕊𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕗𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕕 𝕖𝕘𝕘𝕡𝕝𝕒𝕟𝕥 - $17.99 YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS. If you’re going to visit Miss Qu, I recommend it. It says sour, but it tastes more like sweet and spicy 🔥 If you don’t like eggplant, I bet this will surprise you. Just be aware that if you choose a higher spice level, there’s a better chance you’ll bite into a peppercorn. It will be an intense burst of flavour and your tongue will feel tingly for a while. It’s an interesting experience and would honestly say, give it a try 😂 🍢 𝔹𝕖𝕖𝕗 𝕤𝕜𝕖𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕤 - $35.96 total for 15 Not much to say other than this was tasty! The spices they used (not sure what they are) blended very nicely. You also have the choice of spice level. 🅢🅣🅐🅕🅕 The lady who welcomed us, sat us, and said goodbye to us was very kind! The Canadian Reptile Expo showcases Canadian vendors and breeders, and I got to go! If you missed it, many will be attending this year’s 🅲🅰🅽🅰🅳🅸🅰🅽 🅿🅴🆃 🅴🆇🅿🅾 held on Sept 19-20 at The International Centre in Mississauga, along with other non-reptile animals 🫶 I went last year and it was amazing. Will you be going? They were eager to answer any questions! Many of the vendors were engaging and helpful, and I honestly learned a lot more than I expected to 🅞🅣🅗🅔🅡 If you don’t plan on getting a pet, you’ll probably end up getting some sort of pet-related item. They sell reptile enclosures, feeders, husbandry items, and small trinkets or stuffies as souvenirs.
