Proud dad moment. 🏀❤️

Cam was invited to a shooting camp designed for high school and college players. Just being invited to compete in that environment was pretty special.

And he showed up. Even while feeling sick.

He shot the ball really well today, competed against much older players, and finished 3rd overall in the final competition, behind only two of the older boys.

But what made me proud wasn’t just where he finished. It was watching him step into an environment where he was the youngest, compete, and belong.

And there’s still plenty of work to do. That side-step needs more separation, and there are a lot of little things to keep improving.

Today was a great day. Tomorrow, back to work.

Proud of you, Cam. Keep earning it. 💪🏀

🏀 @slade_all_day training his jump shot with the KAT on his shooting arm. The app tracks his arm angles against target positions, and the KAT vibrates in real time so he can feel when he hits his set point and follow-through.

No wasted reps 💪

Getting the reps in. The shooting gun lets Cam stack a lot of shots without wasting time chasing rebounds, so the focus can stay on repeating the same base, lift, and finish over and over. Volume matters, but only if the reps still look like the shot we’re trying to build.

Years of dribbling work are starting to show in how naturally Cam can chain moves together. The goal now isn’t just collecting more moves — it’s staying low, keeping his base, changing pace, and eventually using the handle to move defenders and create an advantage in games.

This is the fun part — getting to put the handle work on display. Cam’s been spending a lot of time on staying low, keeping the ball tight, and being able to chain moves together without losing his base. The moves are only useful if they eventually hold up when the game speeds up, but this is a good chance to show what he’s building.

He does. Once Cam gets the defender moving, he gets downhill and keeps attacking the lane instead of drifting away from the contact. That’s what we’re trying to build — create the advantage, keep it, and make the defense deal with you at the basket.

Two hands get it there. One hand shoots it. Cam’s guide hand helps control the ball on the way up, but the release should finish through the shooting hand with the guide hand getting out of the way. That’s what we’re working on here — keeping the ball organized without turning the release into a two-handed push.

We’re working on getting Cam’s wrist loaded earlier so the ball can come up on a straighter, cleaner path. These straight-up reps take the rim out of it and make the sequence easier to see: load, wrist set, hand behind the ball, then push up and finish. Right now the wrist is still getting set a little late, so that’s the piece we’re cleaning up.

We’re working on keeping Cam low with a wider base through the whole move. The mat gives him a visual target for his foot placement, but on this rep he comes up out of his stance near the end of the combination. The point isn’t just getting through the crossover, behind-the-back and between-the-legs — it’s keeping his base underneath him all the way through.

Everyone wants a flashy crossover.

The players who get buckets know when to stop.

Every day he shows up.

Not because it’s exciting.
Not because anyone is watching.
Because he knows the little things become the big things.

One more rep. Every single day. 🏀
