What an amazing finish to the winter percussion season! I'm extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such talented students and staff in this wonderful activity.

A big shout out to the students at Leigh High School who earned the Percussion Scholastic Concert Open Title at the NCPA Championships! These percussionists were a joy to work with and kept improving throughout the entire season.

A huge congratulations to the students at Saratoga High School who earned an 8th place finish in Percussion Scholastic World at WGI Finals! This show was absolutely incredible and seeing the students grind all season was inspiring.

Thank you to the many parents, staff, educators, and volunteers who make these experiences available to students.

Not often do percussionists get to play Bach on the actual percussion instrument he wrote for - timpani. Many of his works (violin partitas and cello suites) have been adapted to play on the marimba.

But his Cantatas are amazing works of art. Writing one a week (each one roughly 40 min) during his time in Leipzig was an incredible compositional feat, with over 200 surviving to this day.

This one, Cantata #191 - Gloria in excelsis Deo, was written for choir, vocal quintet, continuo, and chamber orchestra.

Looking forward to performing Narrow Sea once again! Not every day do you get to integrate a gun barrel and stock into your set-up. Honored to be part of this project by @goodrepercussions who is literally taking guns off of our streets to create a safer world for all.

Starting June with a performance of an amazing piece of music - Shostakovich Symphony No. 5 with an incredible orchestra @berkeleysymphony at the beautiful Zellerbach Hall. Always a pleasure to get to perform with this monster player @sohrabbazargannia.

Had an amazing experience last weekend out in New York! Ate some great food, caught a jazz set, and capped it off with a performance at Carnegie Hall! Thank you to John and Cheryl Anderson for the opportunity to perform with @ensemble.monterey and the Cabrillo Choirs. Much appreciation to @shineondd for his generous hospitality 🙏. Thank you to @laura.mcshane.75, my partner in crime; and my cousin in Queens for housing me my final night. Finally, a big thank you to @jocelynhagenmus for composing The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci - what an incredible piece of art.

Will never forget this life-changing experience.
