Last week, I was incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to shadow Beate Vollack the Artistic Director of le Ballet du Capitole, an inspiring leader in the world of dance.

A huge thank you to her and the entire team for such a warm welcome and for generously sharing their time, knowledge and experience. It was wonderful to discover the many different facets of running a ballet company and to feel the passion and commitment of everyone who contributes to making it what it is.

A week of learning, inspiration and valuable insight into the artistic and human dimensions of leadership.

Thank you to Positioning Ballet for facilitating this wonderful opportunity. An experience I will carry forward with great gratitude!

Yesterday, I was incredibly honoured to receive the National Dance Awards Critics’ Circle for Best Classical Choreography for Mary, Queen of Scots, created for Scottish Ballet

From the very beginning, this work was built through collaboration. The choreography grew out of countless conversations, shared ideas, and the imagination of an exceptional creative team @mika_karlsson @michael_p_atkinson @soutra_soutra @bonniebeecher3 @anouar_brissel

My heartfelt thanks to my close friend, director and co-creator, @james.bonas.7 , with whom I had so much fun exploring ideas and searching for the unexpected.

My deepest thanks also to everyone @scottishballet for their belief, trust, and support. Scottish Ballet gave us the space to dream, encouraged us to take risks, push boundaries, and be ambitious in our ideas. Thank you to every single department whose incredible work made this production possible.

And of course, a huge thank you to the amazing dancers, whose artistry, intelligence and heart brought the work to life night after night. I will always treasure the moments we shared in the studio, creating, discovering, and building this work together.

Thank you also to @edintfest for presenting the world premiere of Mary, Queen of Scots. It is a source of great pride to have the work presented there.

To share this moment surrounded by so many artists whose work I admire and respect was truly special. It was wonderful to be part of a gathering that celebrated the creativity, passion, and dedication of so many people who contribute to dance, both on and off the stage. To have Mary, Queen of Scots recognised in this prestigious ceremony is something I will always cherish.

Thank you so much to the critics @national_dance_awards_ for this recognition, and a huge congratulations to all the nominees and winners.

A special BRAVO to @roseannaleney on her well-deserved win for Outstanding Female Classical Performance , and to @harveylittlefield on his nomination for Outstanding Male Classical Performance. It has been a joy to watch you both grow and thrive as artists.

Some exciting news just in from the National Dance Awards 2026, where we have three nominations: Best Classical Choreography – Sophie Laplane for Mary, Queen of Scots; Outstanding Female Classical Performance – Roseanna Leney in the title role as Mary, Queen of Scots; Outstanding Male Classical Performance – Harvey Littlefield (they/them) as Younger Elizabeth in Mary, Queen of Scots. The award ceremony takes place on 15th June at The Coronet Theatre, London.
