I almost didn’t acknowledge hitting 10k because, for a long time, numbers just weren’t the part of this that mattered most to me.

But then I started thinking about everything this page has seen.

It saw me taking some of my first clients in my first apartment while I was still working my corporate job.

It saw me step out on faith during COVID, leave corporate America and get my first salon suite.

It saw the era where I became known as the go to stylist in Northern Virginia for wig installs and custom color. And then it watched me grow, shift my focus and build a clientele that felt more aligned with the stylist and woman I was becoming.

Then I packed up my life and moved to Houston with little to no clientele here and had to prove to myself that I could build it again.

And now, I’m building my newest baby, Tempest Ruth Hair. 🥹

When I look at 10K through that lens, it means a little more. Because these 10,000 followers didn’t come from one viral moment or one version of me. This community has grown alongside me as I’ve changed cities, changed lanes, taken risks, started over and figured out what I wanted my career to look like in each new season.

And somewhere along the way, I realized that impact and visibility never had to be one or the other.

I’ve been able to build a beautiful career, work with incredible clients, teach what I know and create opportunities for myself long before I had a “big” following. Which is kind of full circle, because that’s exactly what Beyond the Followers is about.

You don’t have to wait until everybody is watching to do something meaningful with the people who already are.

So this time, I’m letting myself celebrate the number.

Absolutely no glue was used during the installation of this flawless Closure 🤭

My Glueless Closure installs give the same melt as a closure that was glued down. Bleached, plucked and melted to perfection, then sewn down for a long lasting install.

Can your curly hair do this!? 😍

Half up Half down Quickweave using @tempestruthhair luxe wave bundles. This is our 3rd install using this hair. It’s been worn curly and blown out before the install. The best part, is she’ll be able to wear her hair in its curly texture once she’s over the curls. A 2 in 1 style if you will.

1 thing my San Antonio girls will do is make that drive and it’s safe to say she loves it here! Do you remember your first sew-in? 🥹 I was so happy to exceed her expectations. I live for these transformations.

A lot of my clients love installs that look like an extension of their natural hair and in a world full of heavy density installs, I can appreciate that! My goal was to make this look like her natural hair had grown over night 🧚🏾‍♀️ 3 bundles were used for this install!
