Call me shallow, but having good hair really does calm my nervous system 😂 My life is constantly moving. I’m traveling, speaking, teaching, attending events, handling business, and somehow always headed to the next thing. And no matter how busy I am, I always make sure I show up looking good. The last thing I want to be worried about is my hair, whether it still looks fresh, if the quality is holding up, or if it’s going to last through everything on my schedule. That’s why quality and longevity matter so much to me. I need hair that can keep up with my lifestyle and still look good from the airport to the event, from daytime meetings to dinner. @tempestruthhair gives me one less thing to think about. Soft, full, fresh, and ready whenever I am. Because when my hair is together, I already feel like I have half my life together 🙌🏾😅

A few years ago, if I wasn’t behind the chair, I wasn’t making money. Taking time off meant turning down clients and losing income. And for a long time, I thought that was just what came with being a successful hairstylist. Now I’m waking up in the Italian countryside, celebrating my best friend and realizing how much my definition of success has changed. I don’t just want a business that pays my bills. I want a business that gives me a life. I’m still building and figuring things out, but I’ve learned the importance of creating income outside of my appointment calendar, building my personal brand, and turning what I know into something that can make money beyond the hours I physically spend behind the chair. turns out, starting over can look really good on you. new city. new decade. new business. new rooms. new versions of me. 🤍 30 taught me that you don’t have to have everything figured out to know when you’ve outgrown what’s familiar. sometimes you just have to trust God, trust yourself, and be willing to see what’s on the other side. now, with 31 right around the corner, I can look back and see that so much of what felt like starting over was really God making room for what was next. 30 was less about starting over and more about becoming. and apparently… becoming is kinda chic. ✨

Happy birthday to my grandmother, “Baby Ruth.” I recreated this photo of her because I wanted to start this next chapter by honoring where it all came from. She was a hairstylist herself, long before I ever picked up a comb, and from a young age she fostered my love for hair. She planted the seed of entrepreneurship in me too, showing me what it looked like to build something of your own. She’s one of the first women who taught me what real work ethic looks like, and to always show up as my best self, no matter what. Thank you Grandma🤍 That’s why the brand is called Tempest Ruth Hair. It’s not just a name, it’s everything she gave me, in everything I build. This Friday, the website goes live. New chapter, same roots.
