Sligo Jazz Project had two representatives presenting our thoughts on culture
and arts infrastructure in Ireland at the Seanad Public Consultation Committee public meeting on 22 September, 2026. SJP’s Eunan McKinney, making a case for creating more public spaces to allow culture to flourish: “Culture strengthens communities, drives economic
activity, fosters inclusion, and enriches lives. By addressing the barriers that prevent
access to cultural infrastructure, we can unlock the potential of existing public assets
and create lasting opportunities for future generations.” #seanadeireann #sligojazz #spacesforculture taken in Seanad Eireann by @sligojazz

Cooler Clinics Online: jazzahead! + Becoming Export Ready

📅 Friday 11 September
⏰ 12pm
💻 Online | Free
👉️ Register: https://bit.ly/4qYTvyH (link in bio too)

What does it actually mean to be export ready as a jazz or improvising musician?

With applications currently open for the @jazzaheadde 2027 Showcases, this month’s Cooler Clinic looks at preparing your project for international opportunities — from putting together a strong showcase application to making sure you’re ready to capitalise on the opportunities that can follow.

IMC Director Kenneth Killeen is joined by Eddie Lee, Director of Sligo Jazz Project. Both have previously served on the jazzahead! showcase jury, offering a rare insight into what happens on the other side of the application process.

We’ll discuss:

→ What makes an application stand out
→ What juries are looking for when reviewing showcase applications
→ Why excellent audiovisual material is essential
→ Common mistakes — including the surprisingly important basics like checking your links
→ How to communicate your project clearly to an international industry audience
→ What being genuinely export ready looks like beyond getting the showcase
→ How to make the most of international industry opportunities if interest comes your way

We’ll also look at why applying matters even when you aren’t selected — and how a strong field of applications from Ireland can help demonstrate the depth, ambition and international potential of the Irish jazz and improvised music scene.

Whether you’re applying to jazzahead! this year or beginning to think about international showcases and touring more broadly, this session will help you understand what needs to be in place before you take that next step.

🎟️ Free to attend | Registration required: https://bit.ly/4qYTvyH
