This piece is built as one vessel inside another. The outer form holds and protects while the inner structure pushes outward. It is about growth that starts from within and the possibility of beginning again.

New work from the Mycelial Forms series is now on view with Todd Merrill Studio at Bergdorf Goodman.
This is the first multi stem form presented at the gallery and the first to rest on a wooden base. Two stems rise together from a shared foundation, their surfaces holding the quiet tension of growth shared and growth distinct. The wooden base grounds the forms while allowing them to lift.

My mycelial forms emerge from a fascination with unseen connections—organic networks that echo the hidden threads of memory, time, and transformation. These works are both sculpture and metaphor: branching, interwoven structures that suggest the persistence of life, the silent labor of growth, and the inevitable return to the earth.

Ceramics, as a medium, already contains the paradox of permanence and fragility. In these pieces, that tension is heightened. The mycelial forms reflect the decentralized intelligence of fungi—how they navigate, adapt, and endure beneath the surface. In the same way, my process is intuitive, evolving with the clay rather than imposing a fixed outcome. Each work is rooted in gesture and sketch, but allowed to grow in its own unpredictable direction.

Color plays an essential role in animating these forms. Through natural hues and earthy glazes, I amplify the organic language of the work—highlighting ridges, vessels, and lines that might be overlooked at first glance. These colors not only ground the sculptures in the natural world but also conjure the quiet drama of the forest floor: a world of decay, bloom, and renewal.

At their core, these forms are vessels of time. Like mycelium threading through soil, they speak to what lies beneath—our collective past, our shared biology, and the silent beauty of what supports all visible life.
